Cheapest best saw that can run 22-28” bar

I’d check CL and market place frequently. I’ve had pretty good luck. a Stihl 461 just sold for $550, I’d been all over it if I didn’t already have one.

    First saw

I’d consider waiting for the 400i as well, but who knows how long that will take! The 500i isn’t even available in my area. I think I’ll have plenty of time to save up for the 400i

    Should I buy

Agree. You won’t use the 391 anymore if you get a 261. I traded my 391 for a 260. Wish I had the 261, I don’t really like tuning saws.

Upper Michigan (UP) two saw plan

Makes since, I like to split where I cut, less mess in the yard.

Upper Michigan (UP) two saw plan

Here’s the best video I could find Holy cow, I can’t believe how many crappy wood spitting videos there are! Most of them are complete crap! The one I shared is not bad, I never figured out the wrist flinging thing and don’t really think it helps. if you get a Fiskars splitting axe and...

Upper Michigan (UP) two saw plan

Don’t be afraid if splitting big (30”+) rounds. They aren’t any harder to split than smaller rounds. Just start from the outside and split with the growth rings taking a 2-3” with each strike. I’ll see if I can find a video on you tube.

Upper Michigan (UP) two saw plan

Depends on how big in diameter the wood you will be cutting. If you’re cutting 30” plus logs get a 661 or 500i if you’ll be under 30” the 462 skull do you fine. Why 3 different bars for your 261? I got an 18” and no reason to have another.

Picked up a used 261c... any tips?

NICE! Looks like new! Now I really want one. Tried to sell my 026 for $225 and 260 for $300 on CL couple months ago, but got no offers. I was going to get a 261 with the proceeds.

What's everyone's honest opinions on the "outdated" 026

Got a 026 and a 260. The 260 seems to cut a little faster, but that’s probably do to better tuning. My 026 seems to need to be retuned occasionally. Both are great saws, but I trade them both for a new 261c!

Tricks to get a good running Poulan 4218?

I don’t need one. Don’t want to spend the money, store, maintain, or transport. Not sure if hydraulics would be faster or not, I’ve never used one. And most important, my wife says I need to get more exercise!!

Tricks to get a good running Poulan 4218?

Makes since if your just doing it for fun and the challenge. I wouldn’t put to much money into one, not much left on the back end. Have fun and good luck!

    Long bar chainsaw case question

It will fit in the stihl case, but it’s a 2 piece case, the case and the bar scabbard are 2 separate pieces. now I wish the had a case that fit big saws with big felling spikes!

    Stihl MS660 or 066

Get both! Try them out. Keep the one you like best. Or like them both and keep them both!

Looking for suggestions on an older/smaller Stihl Saw

Good luck. I only buy from CL in person. Might want to check around on the trading post here, lots of reputable sellers,

Looking for suggestions on an older/smaller Stihl Saw

Most people run a 16”, I’m not sure if you can get a 14”. I run 18” only because I cut my firewood to18” length so I use the bar to measure. You can run a 20” but must agree that’s to much bar for the saw.

    Stihl 660

If it checks out and runs and cuts right it sounds like a pretty good deal. I paid $650 USD for my 660 and I’m really happy with it. For 20” woods it’s more than you need, but might not find a 460/461 for the price. If it checks out I’d g for it.

Looking for suggestions on an older/smaller Stihl Saw

026 or 260 is what you want, your bars and chains should be interchangeable. The bars and chains in my old 025 were small mount so they would not work on your 032. I wouldn’t care much if it were “pro” or not. My 026 is not Pro and my 260 is Pro.Shouldn't need a decomp valve in a 50 cc saw and...

    Stihl 660

Saw looks legit to me. The 660 is a really big saw to cut trees around the house and occasionally firewood saw. You will need a smaller trim saw in addition to the 660 for your needs. What sized trees will you be cutting down? What’s the price on the 660?
