Did I buy the Wrong size file or is Google Wrong?

Somewhere out there in the interwebs, somebody is wrong about practically any topic you can imagine. In this case, Google cheerfully serves up that piece of misinformation as a "Featured Snippet" in response to certain searches. Scroll past the "Featured Snippet", and there's plenty of good...

    Husky Roller File Kits

I bought mine from a German seller on eBay. It's not a complete kit - just the combination roller guide/depth gauge tool. I already had the files. The part number on this - just the roller guide/depth gauge packaged by itself - was 586938401. If I Google search that number now, I see some US...

The guides I bought are new enough that they have that covered. This is the one for SP33:

    Husky Roller File Kits

I purchased a 545 in November 2018 as my first chainsaw. I also purchased the Husqvarna sharpening kit for "Pixel" 0.325 narrow kerf. It took me a while to notice that my 545 was shipped with SP33 "X-Cut" chain, not with H30. I later purchased (from a seller in Germany) the roller guide...

    Pawn Shop Husky 545

As far as recommendations go, I would echo what many others have reported with respect to "hot starts", especially when working in hot weather. If I shut the saw down hot, and then need to restart again soon, it can be important to follow their recommended procedure of moving the control to...

    Pawn Shop Husky 545

You are correct, sir. If it's a 20" bar, maybe find someone with a 555? I think those use small mount.

    Pawn Shop Husky 545

It seems to me that a 16" bar with 0.325 narrow kerf setup would feel fairly "small saw". Mine came from the factory with Husqvarna's SP33G chain.

Great deal there! I bought a 545 as my first chainsaw for clean-up after hurricane Michael.

    Just comical

We see that down here with hurricanes. We know there's a chance we're going to get walloped, which spurs some generator sales, but it often turns out to be a non-event. For some folks, the generator that they didn't need - that time - suddenly seems like not such a good idea. Hurricane Michael...

    questions about you?

I came to ArboristSite - and then chainsaw ownership - after hurricane Michael put 8+ laurel oaks on the ground on our residential property in October 2018. We don't heat with wood as a regular thing, so a lot of the firewood from those will be given away to friends and neighbors. The one-saw...

    Loggers Rough on Bars?

That bar in the opening post? Take that to Rivendell, and Elrond's boys will have it reforged in no time.

    Husqvarna combi-can broken

The Justrite Type II with the 5/8" flexible spout - I have the one gallon size for mixed fuel - is just dynamite for filling a chainsaw. I don't have to carry it out in the bush. I expect that the two gallon version would still be pretty handy.

    Sold Echo CS-490

Have you tried using the Husqvarna roller guide as an aid when sharpening? Depending on exactly how you suck at sharpening, it can help. I really like them. ETA: apologies for contributing to the thread drift. GLWS, Cliff!

    The state of delusion.....

That's an interpretation that hadn't occurred to me - but reading the ad again with that in mind, I see what you mean!

    The state of delusion.....

What I find interesting is that the CL "chainsaw wanted" ad is relatively well-written. I'm more accustomed to seeing ads where the people come across as being marginally functional at best. I could believe that this is an oblivious person who is being completely sincere - but I could also...

    Walk of shame

I'm a relative newcomer to using a chainsaw, and my experience so far has been limited to trees blown down in my yard by hurricane Michael. The shame has been limited to a few (3-4?) walks back to my garage to get a scissors jack. No bystanders were present to enjoy my "lesson". I'm getting...

    The state of delusion.....

It's Craigslist, so it doesn't cost much $$ to go fishing, no matter how unreasonable the expectations might be. "Would like free bank notes to use as packing material. Prefer $20 and $50 bills. No $1 bills! Some crumpling is acceptable, but don't waste my time trying to get me to take your...

Massive hemoraging is a serious risk

Another option along those lines is the case that Forest Safety Products has for their "Chainsaw Trauma Kit". It's made specifically to fit the CAT tourniquet and provide quick access to it, but it has room for a little bit of other stuff, too. It doesn't try to go into "everything but the...

    New 550xp mark II

More information here: http://www.husqvarnagroup.com/en/new_generation_50cc_chainsaws_husqvarna. I note that the 545 Mark II gets a bump in power, and is also offered in a heated "G" version.
