Looking for engine to replace Kohler SH265 on Dirty Hand Tools 25 ton log splitter

I replaced an old B&S engine on a log splitter with the Predator 6.5 hp engine. It was a direct bolt on and started as easy as a Honda engine. I would but another one in a heart beat.

    Stihl MS250

I have a 100 acre farm and I still pick this saw up every time I need to cut wood. I like the weight of it and it cuts well with a sharp chain. My other two saws are an Echo CS-501P and a Stihl MS362. Run it for a bit and then make your decision.

Anyone use this Cheap 2 Stroke Oil?

Project Farm on YouTube did a test with the Super Tech oils compared to other brands. It was middle of the pack if I remember correctly.

    Stihl ms250

In start mode, do not pull more than 3x. Then move it to fast mode and crank. Sometimes it burps, sometimes it doesn’t.

    Ashley stove not producing heat

I’m trying to control the temp with the dial on the front. I don’t strike often which may be my problem. I’m also paying more attention to the temp gauge on stove as opposed to pipe. Pipe is always running really cool which is usually in the yellow zone of the gauge.

    Ashley stove not producing heat

Also, I do believe the wood is burning efficiently as it is all dust and not charcoal clumps.

    Ashley stove not producing heat

Correct. I’m burning hardwood in it. Specifically, hickory with moisture content around 12%.

    Ashley stove not producing heat

I purchased a place that came with an Ashley coal burning stove (model CBAC). The previous owners used it to heat the place with wood. I have been using it in the same manner. However, being overly cautious, I put magnetic ChimGard temp gauges on both the pipe and the stove. I try to keep both...

    Motorex 2T in a chainsaw?

I have several quarts of Motorex CrossPower 2T synthetic. I use this 50:1 in my KTM 300 XCW. Can I use this in my Stihl and Echo saws? The oil is JASO-FD, ISO-L-EGD and API TC certified. Echo mentions any oil JASO-FD certified is ok to use. Thoughts?

    CS 490 Or CS 501P?

I purchased a 501P with an 18" last year. I've since put a few tanks through it. It's all stock as I haven't done anything to it. It's a very nice saw but is definitely plugged up compared to other saws in the 50cc class. I also have a Stihl MS250 (16" bar) which is probably about 18 years old...

    ID these logs?

Thanks for all the replies. This tree was blown over (roots and all) in one of the storms. I hated seeing it as I've watched this tree grown over the years as it's next to an area we deer hunt. It'll make for some good firewood.

Will the MS 251C be good for my needs?

The MS 250 cuts above its weight in my opinion. In my opinion, it cuts much better than a MS 290. The 250 can be easy to flood if not careful but it’s a good saw.

Can someone tell me what kind of tree this was? Tree is in Tennessee.

    Echo 620P?

Can’t beat them. I have an Echo 501P, Stihl 362cm and a MS250. I use the Echo and 250 most of the time due to being light weight. Echo is quality for sure.

    Chain saw lube

I’ve used the Echo bar oil and it seems to be super sticky stuff. However I’m in the camp of trying to find the cheaper stuff when possible.

Maintenance for hydraulic fluid (log splitter)?

I purchased a new 37 ton NorthStar log splitter last year. The manual calls for the hydraulic fluid to be changed every 100 hours or annually? I've probably put 10 hours on this unit in the last year. I have the following questions: 1) Should the fluid be changed to remove the initial fluid...

    Wood Boss / Farm Boss

I think my MS250 has more grunt than the MS290 Farm Boss.
