    Blaze King Wood Stoves?

Regency fan here (have a smaller one, F2400). When I originally bought this house it had a Timberline, basically just a big steel box. It would eat wood as fast as you could throw it in there, even with the vents on the front closed up. After finding cracks in the clay chimney liner, I got...

    Echo cs-600 starting/running problems

590/600 carbs are notorious for the H check valve failing and flooding the saw. Pound it out and replace it with a non-check for about $8. Do a search and you'll kick up a couple threads with the process/part number. Yes, I've experienced this, and fixed it on a 590 and a 600. Just make sure...

Echo CS-590 doesn't stay running at idle

The check valve was done to help avoid people leaning the saw out and melting the piston by turning in the H needle too much. It feeds extra fuel to the high side regardless of the needle, so basically you're talking about the same thing. It's notorious for causing issues with both idle and H...

Why wont folks just buy the right bar?

Points for creative solution. Some JB Weld should fix that up 😄

Waste motor oil as bar oil

I just realized my snark toward you may have been a bit heavy handed, I thought I was replying to bwalker. That's what I get for late night sleep deprived (because, kids) posting. Adding "angsty replies" to the list of late night things to stay away from, along with Amazon and...

Waste motor oil as bar oil

If only you ate your own dog food. I thought I had made my point about your hypocrisy, but thanks for reinforcing it, I guess... 😂

Waste motor oil as bar oil

Oh I agree, I'm all for gas saws, love mine (while also conceding that battery saws have their place). I was just calling out his failed argument.

Waste motor oil as bar oil

Did it occur to you that I'm just trolling you with your own comment and hypocrisy for fun? Also a choice not to run a gas saw and not expose yourself to the exhaust fumes, but keep on with that myopic ranting and ignore that choice. Genius. 🤣

Is there a saw you never want to see again?

Keep "poulan", it'll start! 😄 I had a 5020 for a bit, it was the most likeable of the PPs I've repaired/rebuilt/run. Did a reasonable job cutting up some sizeable oak. Was still glad to sell it off.

Is there a saw you never want to see again?

This. I've never met a PP that I even remotely liked for exactly these reasons. I always feel like the "pro" part is an inside joke, because I'd take a wild thing all day long over any PP.

    Buying new saw on eBay

They were definitely not open box, they were used and sold as such/not running. I went back and looked and the 590 was ~$210 and the 600 was ~$220 (shipped) 24" (no depth gauages) in about 6mo+ down black cherry GusGus2020 rang a bell for me, that 600 did need a new tensioner from the...

    Plasma cutter recommendation

If you've got an extra grand laying around, yeswelder has some multi-process machines that look pretty impressive. No affiliation, I'm just trying to convince myself to buy one as I want ac tig and a plasma. I've been eyeing their ac tig machines for a while, but that's 2/3 of the way to a...

    Buying new saw on eBay

Seems like a bit of fear mongering going on here. I've got a 590 and a 600 off ebay for just over $200 (each). Neither were running, but about $10 later in parts they were, so it depends on your tolerance and skill level in doing repairs. If you want a no-hassle running out of the box with...

    First carb rebuild.

I usually use a flat blade screwdriver, get under the tab and tweak it a little. Put a straight edge across after and it should just barely be touching. Also, bounce the lever a few times after you tweak it and before you check it to make sure it's "settled" where it will normally be after...

Is this a good vintage homelite saw?

Easy and cheap to work on, not a bad little saw for what it is. Sought after, rare, etc no. Simple little saw that gets the job done and is cheap to repair/replace, yes. Some were plastic, some were mag, some had one trigger, some had two. The plastic ones are light and snappy. Do not know...

    Chain sharpening

Agreed, keep goin' until you get to the witness marks. I've seen that video before and mostly like it, he did a good job. The only gripe I have is the "teeth have to be the same length" bit. A lot of videos have this myth, and it's just not true. You don't have to file the same number of...
