    Stihl 026 rebuild

It came with a 194 thankfully I planned on opening up the muffler after I clean out the carbon.

    Farmertec

I have ordered with them in the past when shipping was pennys on the dollar. I used a pre paid credit card and not my own.

What is your favorite chainsaw of all time?

Probably the big pioneer 620’s and idk why. Close second would be Stihl 08s

    Stihl 026 rebuild

Still don’t know how I feel about doing port work myself just yet. I got a lot on the go at the moment getting things ready for this season that’s kinda why I took the Stihl down to see what it needs and threw it back together. I did recently figure out the homelite xl12 cylinders will fit the...

    Stihl 026 rebuild

I did a quick fingernail test didn’t feel any catching to speak of. With the way the saw looks I’m going to change out the crank seals and possibly all the gaskets and fuel line tank breather ect.

    Stihl 026 rebuild

What grit should I start with? Other than what was told to me I have no history on the saw as far as what oil was run(when it was ram with mix) or anything it does have a good amount of carbon build up in the muffler so much so that removing it I had to dig out a screw head.

Need a spark plug cross reference please.

Just about any of them stubby 14mm thread 9.5mm reach plugs will work I’d use the mid range for heat depending on mix. I was trying to figure out what plug I should use in my 08s recently and turns out it uses the same plugs as the old air cooled beetle those pesky Germans.

    difference in bar/chain oil??!!

I run whatever is cheapest at that time. Currently my bar oil jug has a mix of whatever I had laying around for bar oil. including whatever was in some of the saws I bought along with some hydraulic oil and SAE30 that the bottles were maybe 1/4 full. I use a old laundry detergent bottle with the...

    Cylinder pitting

Yup I wouldn’t even try it. I have a pioneer 1100 cylinder that when tested was 150psi but the chrome was pitted.

    Chinese Saw no throttle lock

Nobody has mentioned it yet but most homeowner grade Stihl equipment is actually made in China.

    Oil mix questions

Unfortunately here in Canada all pump gas has up to 10% ethanol. If you want ethanol free have to go with aviation gas(their making unleaded now) or race fuel cheapest I have found that was $180 per 5 gallon can.

    Stihl 026 rebuild

I can get it just about anywhere here but the auto body supply is usually where I go. So far I’m happy with this free 026 I could use a good light worksaw the 08s nice but heavy for what it is.

    Stihl 026 rebuild

I do believe this is the older 44mm cylinder. Part number is mahle w12 44zk1. It also doesn’t have a decomp. I was looking earlier for some wet dry but seems my auto body tool box is out. Piston is scored up not the worst I have seen and the rings are still free but it’s probably best to replace it.

    Oil mix questions

One Stihl oil is junk. But other then that I run everything new and old on 32:1 and tune it to my mix. I have a lot of 2 stroke equipment myself most older so for me it makes sense to keep 1 mix around.

    Chinese Saw no throttle lock

For me it wasn’t even a big thought I happened to be at princess auto while they had a clearance table. Wasn’t looking for a chainsaw but walked out with my first and I can tall ya ain’t nothing wrong with them.

    Stihl 026 rebuild

That’s the worst of it as far as I seen. If it can be cleaned up I will throw a meteor piston in it. I didn’t vac test it but I’m also thinking crank seals and possibly gaskets fuel lines ect. It has the walbro 194 I know some didn’t and guys like to switch them out so that’s a plus.

    Chinese Saw no throttle lock

I have one of these saws it was my first saw actually. You pull the choke pull the rope and get it going then push the choke in and do it again if needed. I think I paid a whole $65 for mine at princess auto off their clearance table. I’m going to have to get it running after my muffler...
