Inside Wood Gasification boiler w/1000 gallons thermal storage

Boiler output/input is 2" on the Attack 45, I adapted down to 1 1/4" almost immediately and no issues. Looks like you can can get 1 1/2" flanges for the alpha 2: https://www.supplyhouse.com/Grundfos-519604-1-1-2-Iron-Pump-Flange-pair-9577000-p

Inside Wood Gasification boiler w/1000 gallons thermal storage

I seem to recall about a week for the first boiler and maybe two for the second purchase. #2 had to have the flue connection changed from vertical to horizontal and that involved moving the O2 sensor and temp probe in the flue outlet.

    Hearing Protection w/bluetooth

I have the am/fm worktunes (3M) and they are great, good volume and good reception. Also have the bluetooth version with radio but the reception isn't as good. To be honest I have not tried the bluetooth out so not sure how good that is. They also make them with bluetooth only, no built in...

Inside Wood Gasification boiler w/1000 gallons thermal storage

Completely different control systems. The lambda control adds an O2 sensor at the flue outlet and both primary and secondary air lnlet shutters are motorized and controlled by lambda control to maintain a certain oxygen content in exhaust stream. Adjusts on the fly as burn conditions change...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

Yes no complaints on my end. Both boiler set ups working very consistently and other than a couple intermittently leaky PexAlPex compression fittings on my first setup the system(s) have been great. Cleaning the Attack became quick and easy once I removed the mechanism that moves the...

    No start 044

This is what I did on my 2172 and worked fine. I'm telling my coworker to buy a Stihl replacement piston/ring set, looks to be a little over $80 from Baileys. He'll be tickled pink to get it fixed for that, the small engine shop that removed the rope thought the crank was bent and it would be...

    No start 044

Piston damage on exhaust side caused by rope down spark plug hole. Slight deformation, rings are stuck on that side. Think I can get by with a piston and rings. Cylinder looks fine.

    No start 044

Yes, spark is good and the oil was just poured into the port to show better on the video. Prior to that I had cleared the cylinder and plug of excess oil and no start. Saw ran great before attempted oil pump fix. I agree cylinder needs to come off for better inspection.

    No start 044

Coworker brought me his 044 that will not start after some work he did. He removed the clutch to try to fix the oil pump. He used the old rope down the spark plug hole as a piston stop trick but unfortunately the rope went out the exhaust port and when removing the clutch the piston wedged so...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

I agree but with a few simple mods to my Tundra I was able to "load and go" - really nice at 5am when I need to get to work and don't have time to get a manual control stove up to temperature and settled on a fresh load.

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

The Drolet Heat Commander is now available and officially EPA certified to the latest requirement. Here is a posting direct from a SBI/Drolet rep from another forum: Just to end the speculation from all of you nice folks... The Heat Commander is EPA-certified. EPA indeed did not want us to...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

Yep, new regs went into effect May or June 2020. Only Kuuma VF100 and Firechief/shelter have a furnace on the current list and the firechief/shelter got a special exemption some how. I understand it really does not meet the spec. Apparently all the EPA rollbacks in the last 4 years do not...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

And just to complicate things further, the Drolet Heat Commander is not on the EPA certified list yet. I assume it is in the process of certification. So even though it's on Drolet's factory store site, I don't think it can be purchased yet for the US market. As far as the Englanders...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

Don't know if Firechief has made changes/improvements for the 2020 model. Hopefully. If so both the 2020 firechief unit and the Drolet Heat Commander could be considered brand new and will have no user feedback yet. I would trust the Drolet model way before the Firechief. Drolet supported...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

You must have been pushing that furnace pretty hard. If the cracks were in the front of the unit around the door it should have only allowed more combustion air into the firebox not exhaust out unless you had draft problems or experienced back puffing. I have two tundra's installed and the...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

Pretty slim pickings right now. The new epa regs for wood furnace is pretty tough to meet. As far as the Firechief if it's this model: https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/fire-chief-2020-epa-certified-wood-burning-indoor-furnace/0000000333296?bc=11434|11695|11721|11725 Don't bother, it's junk. I...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

The new EPA regs for 2020 have eliminated most options. There is the firechief/shelter unit at the box stores - don't even think about it as it is junk and will soon loose it's EPA certification. There is the Kuuma vaporfire 100 but last I checked it's around $5k - it is a great furnace...

    562xp dead after 1hr - what should I expect?

Sure glad I own early versions of the 661 and 562. Both highly recommended here at the time. The 661 has had a hot start issue with less then a couple hours use. The 562xpg is still new in the box - almost afraid of it now after reading this thread:( My Stihl dealer offered to replace the...

Does Anyone Own a SOLO chainsaw or Have Opinions on Them?

I bought a Solo 880-14 concrete saw last summer through amazon. Couldn't get it started until I figured out the fuel pick up wasn't dropping to the bottom of the tank and I had only filled it half full. Once I figured that out it starts fine and has been fine since then. The price was right...
