Used (not engine) oil as bar lube

Where did you get this? As far as I know, the kinematic viscosity of a liquid in cSt is simply the time in seconds a measured sample of liquid takes to flow thru a calibrated orifice at a specific temperature.

    Big hung up pine

It's fun guessing location by the tree species and "feel" of the woods. I guess northern New England. We have a red spruce leaner on our property, just a bit smaller than that, that I'm waiting to come down. But it's not threatening anything (and I didn't do it <g>).

    Wood splitter replacement pump?

I expect you're right. The flywheel worked well on that press I mentioned where the demand for high pressure was short and predictable. Pushing thru a gnarly piece of wood is very different.

    Wood splitter replacement pump?

Unless I'm missing something, single stage pump. You'll get more speed, but you'll sacrifice splitting force. Probably dozens of mfrs of this type of pump. In order to replace the pump without doing other modifications you need to know the displacement, mount style, shaft specs and port size...

    Advanced log splitter plumbing question

Seems like you have 2 choices to find a suitable valve. Send the p/n of the cartridge to the various mfrs and ask for a comparable valve with the higher cracking pressure, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an answer. Or wade thru the mfrs' catalogs. Eaton(Vickers), Parker, Rexroth...

    Advanced log splitter plumbing question

I just took a quick look in the Eaton catalog. Their SPC2 valves appear to be comparable to the Parker CSP series, but they don't list an SPC2 bigger than a -10 cartridge. They do show a similar 4CK series that's available in the flow range you're looking for, but the cracking pressure is not...

    Advanced log splitter plumbing question

Something to be aware of is that Sun uses their own cavity designs that are not compatible with the industry standard cavities used by Parker, Eaton, etc. Nothing wrong with Sun's stuff as long as you can get what you need from them when you need it, but you limit your options. We've had trouble...

Stihl MS261 leaking bar oil from oil adjustment screw

I just assume they all leak and store my saws on their sides, caps up.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Our old house was also a mish-mash. Interesting exercise trying to figure out what was done when. It also had a kitchen ell addition off the back. There was a natural gas stove with kerosene end heater (probably converted from wood) in the kitchen and early 1900's looking plumbing. The laundry...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

That fireplace could be the twin of the one in my family's house ('til 1974) in Wakefield MA. Two chimneys and 4 fireplaces. The entire back wall was brick and incorporated the chimneys and fireplaces. Just discovered the house's Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Sweetser_House

    Attachable worklight for stihl USG?

A search for "machine light" or "machine worklight" should return something that'll work.

Trigger locks. (chainsaws) How far back do they go?

I had the same question, but assume the "(for starting)" means the high idle detent. I have a Stihl 024, purchased new in '85-'86, with both the idle detent and safety interlock. And an 011AVT, pretty sure it's at least a few years older, that also has both features. On the 011 the high idle...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Yeah, speed up and go ahead of me or slow down and follow, I don't care. If it was safe for me to move over I would have done it when I saw you approaching on the ramp.

If You Could Only Have One Chainsaw Forever...

I'm sure you know I was just ribbing you -- though I'd love to have a 261 my 011 is nowhere near an even trade. Your 015 is too close to what I already have. A non-running 60-70cc saw (for example 034S/036) would be tempting.

If You Could Only Have One Chainsaw Forever...

I have a minty 011 that I rarely use. Trade it for your 261 ;)

    F250 Fuel Pump Problem

Long shot here, but I'm looking for help with an ongoing fuel pump issue with my '06 F250, 5.4 liter. The short version is the pump does not run. I can make it run by pulling the connector off the pump driver module and jumping the pins so the pump is connected directly to the the 12V supply...

Old Logging Pics From Vancouver Island........

I'm sure many of you are familiar with Darius Kinsey, but for those who are not: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=darius+kinsey+photos&t=ftsa&iar=images&iax=images&ia=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.fineartamerica.com%2Fimages%2Fartworkimages%2Fmediumlarge%2F2%2Floggin-valves-darius-kinsey.jpg I...

    What's on your bench

If you can't find them locally; if they're 3/8-16; if 1" is long enough; and you don't mind plated, I have a couple here I'd send you. (Lots of ifs there...) I'm sure McMaster, and others, will have them, but probably plated as well, and the shipping is likely to be more than a pack of screws...

    What's on your bench

Since you have a lathe it wouldn't take long to make a couple round head screws from those hex heads. I checked, and while there isn't quite enough meat in the hex heads to make standard round heads, I doubt anyone's going to call you out on the difference.
