Picked up two more cubes. Both R517T or so I'm told. An older fella bought the one with the decal in 1979 and has used it since. The other was his spare. It still has an almost new air filter with the flocking still on it. Both run and start great. The one on the right doesn't stay running at...

It might run, but I gotta be careful about fixing up my parts saws lol Picked this up on the way home from work last night. Guy had it buried in his shed. Fresh gas and it ran. Needed a muffler, half of a rear handle, pull cord handle and half the nuts and bolts were loose or jacked up...

Picked up a 65cc parts saw today. Piston is actually pretty good. Good muffler and starter, ect. I grab whatever I can for parts around here. Even bolts and fasteners are good to have for spares. I figured it was an old farmer model at first due to the black crankcase. Top handle is wrong and...

I wondered why I was having such a hard time with it. Was doing the proper adjustments. Would not run at all. Turns out when I put the new float in, the spring didn't seat properly and got pushed outta position. It was late tonight when I fixed it but I just fired it up quickly as to not annoy...

Anyone who has tuned the carbs on older R and P series 55cc saws. What did you use at your start point on the high low and idle jets? Lot of folks say start at one turn and work from there. That count for the idle screw as well? Just thought I'd check here before I give it a go.

    Pioneer chainsaws

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye out for some parts. It sounds like bad bearings in the P12 to me. I have a few saws with toasted pistons and this doesn't seem the same. I haven't worked on anything this small before, it will be interesting.

Got the P55 to run. Ran pretty good. Tried to shut it off and the kill switch doesn't work. Choke wouldn't kill it so had to adjust the carb to kill it. It looks like someone has mangled the contact inside where the switch locks into place. I'll have to figure out how to take that apart. Do I...

    Pioneer chainsaws

I had it off, I "broke it free" by hand. Either bearings are gone or piston is toast. How are parts to come by for these Pioneers? If it's anything like the Partners it'll be a nightmare at best lol

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Saved this little saw from a scrap yard. The bright green jumped right out at me. It has good spark. and feels like good compression while pulling the cord. Air filter housing and gas tank were full of gunk. Going to clean it up and see if it has any life left in it. The fuel that was in it was...

    Pioneer chainsaws

Hello everyone. While primarily a collector/repairer of Partner saws, I picked up a few Pioneers on the weekend for next to nothing at an antique store my wife wanted to visit. First is a P12 and second is a P28. I was hoping to get lucky and have a few runners, but luck decided to take a day...

If you ever get a chance, I'd be interested in the R420T stuff. No rush. Thanks. Picked up two more Partners this weekend. R22 and (maybe) a P55. Neither run yet. P55 has no spark, and I can't get the R22 to pick up fuel from the new line and filter. Carb will come apart next.

I have gone through the book now, no R40 info sadly.

Thank you both. I fixed up a yellow clutch cover with a chain brake I had on a parts saw and put it on the R420. I prefer the yellow cover with the stamped "Partner" to the blank black cover. I threw the bigger bar on it for now and until my original bumper spikes arrive from chainsawr I put a...

Thanks. Appreciate it. Amazon had them in stock. Fuel system rebuild this weekend! Fingers crossed.

I'm going to give it new fuel lines and filter this weekend, just in case those are letting air in the system. They are old and hard. If no improvement after that I'll have to check the seals. If i need bearings and seals, am I out of luck? or can a fella still rustle some up nowadays.

Would any of you fine folks know if I can still get a rebuild kit for a Tillotson HS117B carburetor? And maybe direct me to it? I've been browsing eBay and Amazon and none of the numbers seem to match up. It is for my R420T. And anyone else out there with an R420 or other Partner 65cc saw. How...

In my area, I have picked up 6 (soon to be 7) running saws, and 5 powerheads as parts. In the span of about a month, month and a half. I think people are trying to make money off of them now. I missed out on an a decent looking S55 for $40 at a yard sale. A few days later the fella who bought...

While the chart is Handy, it is missing some information. A few of the R series are left off of it completely. R15, R18, R19, R22, R30. Those are what I know off the top of my head. I'd like to be able to fill in more of that information. I will be picking up a nice looking R22 next weekend so I...

To rebuild or not, MS290 question.

Thanks for all the insight. I haven't had the pleasure of rebuilding a powerhead yet, all my old Partner saws have been lucky enough to have good pistons. Just needed fuel, ignition wiring and physical work. No problems turning a wrench. Its a hobby for me. I in no way make a paycheque from any...

To rebuild or not, MS290 question.

Hello everyone. Just looking for a few other opinions. I recently got my hands on an MS290 that had "just stopped working, but it had good gas in it!" It turns out the piston and cylinder look like someone has taken a grinder to them. I would bet they put straight gas in it and toasted it. Its...
