That is how I got mine off mate, pin punch and hammer, yes it is a reverse thread right to loosen it make sure you stop the crank for moving before try to take it off you should have no problems

I got my Solo 662 ported by Sean Griggs the bloke knows his stuff my 662 out performs my 667 after his work highly recommend got a couple more saws lined up for him soon
