No More Heating With Firewood In New York?

How do you protect yourself when you have to x y z before you access your specialty licensed killing machine to protect your family? Seriously. Maybe it’s time to live in the portion that is currently still America. Or buy a really good Estwing hammer.

Safe to hang your saws from the bar for storage?

Seriously. If my saws had a hole I’d hang ‘em. Why not? You use them in all positions. If they are in proper working order I don’t see a problem with hanging them for a few days/a week from the hole in the bar. No lateral stress on the bar. If you’re storing them for months you may want to...

    Is this mulberry?

Those are ironwood. I am not sure what iron wood looks like inside. It’s been YEARS since the one ironwood I know I cut. But I know elm doesn’t have a dark brown core. Unless maybe it had a virus... But then you would know because it would be wearing a mask 😷...

    Is this mulberry?

Mulberry has smooth bark. Not notchy like that. That almost looks like ironwood but certainly not elm. Not with that dark brown core. How big/tall/mature was/is it? Ironwood is rare anymore. But not unheard of.

    whadja do today?

I noticed the cones too. Strange. They do look better than some of ours... Crappy deal! I hope the insurance doesn’t drag it’s feet replacing the equipment.

    4x4 bucket truck?

No doubt! Sometimes if it wasn’t for our beautiful office view(the wilderness), wading through “sh*t”(proverbial and real), would get really old. One of my guys today, dropped an as*load of willow saplings, on the edge of a pond, right into the pond... I’m not one to bitc* much and I lead by...

    4x4 bucket truck?

I must admit I’ve got reach envy. My truck is 2x4 and 60’. The other one is 2x4 and 70’. Good call waiting for the dry ground. Sure beats pulling your truck in half...

    whadja do today?

...and people say God doesn’t exist. Amazing. I mowed over the top of a burrow not seeing in. On my next round I spotted three littles running for their life. I killed the mower and went to get the cat carrier. Of the three, one watched me gently pick up the other two and place them in the...

New Advice: Fill Tank With Pricey Premix Before Storage?

I would agree that local climate affects our saws and other 2 cycles differently. Excellent example being desert regions where it’s one hundred degrees in the sun but drops to near freezing in the night. Unless of course it’s just a “dry heat”...

New Advice: Fill Tank With Pricey Premix Before Storage?

Nice! I used to work with a guy years ago that raced cars. And every so often I would buy 5 gallons of 110 race gas from him. But back then I didn’t understand nor realize that was far and above the point at which you stopped seeing benefits and start causing problems... ETA: Obviously...

New Advice: Fill Tank With Pricey Premix Before Storage?

Our work saws that get run every day get 91 octane non oxygenated gas from Kwik Trip and whichever STIHL oil is handy. Silver or orange. My PERSONAL saws don’t get run all the time. Sometimes as long as a year or more depending on what is going on with work and home. I run them out of fuel...

    Epipen storage on harness.

It is ALWAYS good policy to know the risks involved in what you are doing. It took me a long time before I could ride with anyone. It’s hard to trust another driver after someone you trusted gets you hurt so bad. STIHL ETA: And thank you. I’m glad I came out ok too. :)

    Epipen storage on harness.

Indeed and agreed. About 15 years ago, I was fairly new to climbing, and had just become foreman of my own bucket truck. On our way to our bucket trucks one morning, my foreman ran a stop sign and we hit a gal broadside and flipped and rolled our crew cab one ton. My arm went out the window...

    Epipen storage on harness.

Wow. I listened to that last night. It seemed like the stuff that went wrong was just extremely bad luck, right up to the point where her partner cut her rope... Just goes to show how important aerial rescue training AND practice is.
