    Eddy current chainsaw dyno.

I had thought of rigging up a load cell to try and get some comparative numbers for before/after mods. But an eddy brake.... you have my attention.

Dolmar PS 510... anybody have one?

510 has the aluminum cases, 5100 the magnesium. Muffler mod/cat delete and put in a thinner base gasket for good measure :-)

    What's on your bench

It's a dolmar 6400. Where do I start?!? The saw ran, but I didn't put it in wood before tearing it apart. It sounded ok. Looks like someone used the saw to cut up plastic barrels or something. The cylinder was caked with melted shredded plastic, melted plastic goop everywhere. It couldn't...

I got the Makita 6401 upgrade itch.

Easiest solution is to buy another 6400 and upgrade one with a 79cc top end. What happens next is you realize how much more power the 79cc saw has for the same weight as the 64cc saw. Then you go and buy another 79cc top end so you end up with two dolkita 79cc saws! Problem solved!

Dolmar 6400 Can't spin chain backwards?

Dolmar 6400 Can't spin chain backwards?

You should be able to spin the chain backward. Clutch binding up maybe when rotating backwards? If you take the bar and chain off can you spin the sprocket in both directions easily? Have you owned the saw since new? Adjuster should be pretty easy to operate... something sounds amiss.

Tig welders???....sorry not saw related....or is it!

fwiw, I scored a barely used syncrowave 250 years ago on craigslist for pretty cheap ($1k iirc). I don't weld often these days, but when I do it's nice to be just a couple of toggles/turns/buttons away from welding almost anything.

Is the future of chainsaws battery powered?

Until they can figure out how to store more capacity using less weight and space, it will tough to use electric chainsaws for anything but light occasional work. Looking at the electric cars, a tesla model3 weighs 4,000lbs if you get the upgraded battery so you can get a 300+ mile range on a...

Is the future of chainsaws battery powered?

I see two man problems with battery powered saws... a) battery capacity b) recharge times. If you're doing occasional light work and only need something small an electric chainsaw might come in handy. I can't imagine how long it would take and how many battery swaps would be required to...
