    Fireplace insert question

Not sure, but you may be talking about some different type of heater since that is a pretty low chimney temperature ( 87*C is about 189*F ) ? Current EPA certified North American wood-stoves with catalytic burner or secondary combustion air tubes will have lot hotter chimney in my observation.

Possibly purchasing used sc252 grinder- couple questions, looking for suggestions

I am not familiar with SC252, but in Vermeer SC362 dual rear wheel outer rim has cylindrical extension as shown below and hub/wheel bearing setup is built in as part of the inner wheel. Regular long bolts 3/8-16 x 8 1/2" One outer dual wheel rim & tire, shown from front and back side: One...

Possibly purchasing used sc252 grinder- couple questions, looking for suggestions

Well, I think the grinder wheel side axle is actually the rear, and the steering wheel axle is called front axle - at least on the Vermeer SC362

    Stihl 361 tuning

The photo was taken after running the Farmertec MS361 clone with the very restricted muffler which came with the build kit, and it was not really possible to hear burbling or four stroking with it so ended up using a tach method, but was not happy at all how the reading was bouncing around...

    Another bad MS361 Ignition Module?

Hi Kash, No big deal, but '150000 volt hydro wire' is Canadian speak - many in the rest of the world have no idea what you mean  Cheers

    JonCutter G3800 Crank Bearings

I have run 4 - 5 tankfuls of fuel in the brand new G3800 I mentioned above in post #3 and so far the crank bearings have no noticeable slack or play at all. The saw performs very well with the modified muffler from saw #1

Sold Shindaiwa 488 in very nice condition 195$ plus shipping.

It looks like in good condition, professional 50 cc saw and I would buy it, except I already have 36, 38, 40, 50, 60 ant 93 cc saws ..... I've had Shindaiwa 360 for a long time and will keep it as long as I can hold it in my hands.

    Cheap poulan strato saw questions

I've had similar experience few times over the years with some of my saws, which are all little older models, and every time so far it has been corrected by just replacing the diaphragm in the carburetor. All of my saws have fully adjustable carburetors IE. adjustable L & H jets. Your mileage...

    8ten chain?

I have read some time ago how at least some "Made in Canada" steel beams etc. were actually made in China but somehow ended up being sold as Canadian. Maybe someone here has more details on that, and please correct me if it's no longer the case?

    Saws That Surprised You

I have been using 36 cc Shindaiwa 360 for about 25 years for small stuff cutting and really like it! When I bought it I was told by the dealer how many local wood carvers use it because it's built for professional use.

Opinions Wanted, New Makita or Old Stihl.

Old thread, oh well. Hopefully it worked out well for you? I have been using Shindaiwa 360 for about 25 years and it's an excellent small (36 cc) professional saw. As you probably already figured out it uses 3/8 sprocket!

    JonCutter G3800 Crank Bearings

I will probably take it apart this winter and may just keep it as spare parts for another new unused G3800 I had kept on the shelve. Hopefully the crank bearings on that one will last little longer......

    JonCutter G3800 Crank Bearings

I have been using my JonCutter G3800 quite a bit lately for bucking hybrid poplar trees and the saw has performed very well, but today to my surprise I noticed the crankshaft bearings having excessive axial & radial play in them! My estimate is about 2 mm axial play, which is way too much -...

I ordered Dukes piston/cylinder set yesterday and will post here once it's been running for awhile.

    Stihl 361 tuning

The OEM cylinder/piston set looks nice and it's good they have competing part suppliers. Good to have several options.

    Stihl 361 tuning

Thank you for the comment, I suspected that myself, in that case changing to better quality cylinder & piston is not a big deal. I have heard about Dukes, Hyway, Meteor etc. - any comments on these or others would be welcome please. Prices for the first two seem to be from $60 to $120 or so...

    Stihl 361 tuning

Bump So no one has comment about the way the top of the piston looks like in the photo? I see a band of what looks like "scratching" marks above top piston ring. Metal to metal contact - not sure what to make of that?

    031 av questions

I bought used AV031 from a neighbor 1996 or so and it's been the most reliable chainsaw I've ever had. It's little noisy, little heavier than I would like and also vibrates little more than modern saws, but it works always when needed. Replaced all anti vibration parts last year but it made no...
