Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

Fix was to rough up the metal shoes and bell housing (thanks to Eric at OMB) and the machine works well now.

Leery of ordering from GXI. Any experiences?

The lack of response speaks volumes, especially since so many here have been so helpful. Serves me right for buying something before researching the market on it.

Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

It looks like the bearing replacement failed, the clutch still does not function correctly. I'm pretty leery of ordering from GXI, no answer to emails or repeated phone calls. Such is the life of ending up with a Chinese machine that has a knock-off Honda clone as an engine . . .

Leery of ordering from GXI. Any experiences?

In an effort to fix my DEK 15 HP chipper, I need to buy a single pulley centrifugal clutch as they are the distributors of the brand. My DIY repair of the clutch failed, but I had fun making sparks and cutting stuff up. I've emailed GXI with questions - no answer. I've called their listed...

Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

Adding this here in case it helps someone in the future. It turns out that the clutch I need is not so common and finding one is not that simple. The specs: 15HP motor, 1" bore, 1/4 keyway, 4" pulley. I tried most of the major manufacturers sites, eBay, Amazon, etc. I did find one for $384...

Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

Yeah I was just looking at that. Keyway size was another one I wanted t make sure was the same as mine. It is a 1" shaft, and bolted at the end. I also need to make sure that the belt travels in the same vertical plane off the pulley as the pulley below that drives the shaft for the blade...

Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

Thanks for the advice. My first thought was to replace it with a similar clutch and not worry about the part number and OEM manufacturer specs, but I've never replaced one on a chipper before. Thanks!

Help identifying clutch on DEK 15HP Chipper

Hi everyone - I'm looking for help identifying this centrifugal clutch off a DEK "BrushMaster" 15 HP chipper. it is seized and looks like the rubber around the bearing is melted. The owners/delivery manual doesn't have a part number, DEK won't answer the phone, and I'd like to be able to...

Help a homeowner with his chipper?

@Kewadin - Thank you! I took the clutch off and it's completely jammed, the rubber bushing around the bearing seems to be melted too. Hopefully this is the problem. I don't have an parts manual, no one at DEK will answer the phone on any extension, so I'm going to make another post to see if...

Help a homeowner with his chipper?

That's a good thought, thank you. If the clutch is slipping, then it would lead to the machine not feeding branches and needing pressure to get the branch through?

Help a homeowner with his chipper?

This machine adjusts the belt tension by sliding the motor either closer to or further away from the rotating shaft. There's plenty of adjustment left, the belt is still almost new, and it fits tightly on both sprockets. The machine seems to spin up to the proper speed too. Thanks for the...

Help a homeowner with his chipper?

@Kewadin - thanks for the idea. I did check the belt and it seems to be normal tension to me and not slipping. Again, i don't have a manual to see if there is a spec. Thanks again. EDIT: I did check the belt, and it's as tight as I dare make it.

Help a homeowner with his chipper?

@Del_ Ah, now I understand and that makes sense. Thank you for that. Maybe I'll clean that edge up to see if it has any effect on the chipper's efficiency. Time to file . . . Thanks! EDIT: the edge is already pretty square and sharp, with not much buildup of tar at all, so I left it.
