    help identify this sapling?

Found a bunch of these at a family cabin in western PA. I tried using google image search and searching a description but I can not find anything that comes close. It's a long slender branch covered in thorns that has a single bulb at the tip. These were coming out of the ground and probably 7...

does echo cs490 have felling sights?

I used a square and it lined up with the bar. I'm not advanced at felling trees so I dont think it will matter that much, but at least I'll be aiming with the right sight now.

does echo cs490 have felling sights?

Could not find any definitive answers and the pics of the saw are hard to see if it does or not. Did a search in here and could not find any previous threads about it either.

    homelite VI super 2 people.

Oooh! Makes sense. So if I use a solid brass fitting I would just have to remember to vent the tank (open the top) once I'm done with it. At worst it would just bleed oil till the pressure vents out.

    homelite VI super 2 people.

Almost done with this saw! Been fun so far. Only part I have left is the metal fitting for the oil tank between the oil line and the duckbill valve. I've come up with two different part numbers. One looks like a solid brass fitting and the other is a sintered fitting. Not sure what the purpose...

Once those two screws are out the metal plate should lift right off? Is there something underneath holding down the needle valve assembly?

    homelite carb help

Recently started on my latest project which is a homelite VI super 2. I am going to rebuild the carb and found it uses the K-10 HDC kit. I have no experience with a carb like this but I notice it has what looks like a reed valve on one side. When I took the cover off on the needle side it has...

Cs490 lean it out or switch to 50:1 mix

I have a 490 and I use premixed 40:1. I agree oils are much better but at the same time companies have to find ways of meeting epa regs these days. I believe that's one reason why most state 50:1 instead of 40:1. Just my thoughts. 40:1 gives me peace of mind.

what method do you use to tune your saw?

I got the method of adjusting L screw for highest rpm at WOT from here. About 4 minutes 9 seconds into the video is where it starts.

what method do you use to tune your saw?

I've found three different ways and I've tried them all with similar results. 1 - run saw at full throttle and adjust LOW side carb for fastest speed. Done. 2 - turn low side screw lean till it starts to die, mark spot, then rich till it starts to die, mark spot. Set the low side half way...

Post pictures of your new chainsaw

Echo cs490 new to me. The 3 Poland are saws I just finished fixing up. One just carb, fuel lines, and ignition module. The other two carb, cylinder/jug, and fuel lines to make them all 42cc saws. I had a lot of fun learning and they are fairly easy to work on.

My husqvarna 136 is killing me- even after carb kit- please help

I had a very similar problem with my poulan saw and after rebuild with walbro kit as well as new Tygon fuel lines it ended up being a check valve in the carb. That is why I was seeing small air bubbles in the fuel line. Something to check. You could try a Chinese carb knock off which are usually...

    Rare positive warranty experience

That's a good thing because there is no warranty unless its purchased from an authorized dealer. I was going to get an echo chainsaw because of the 5 year warranty but I wasnt impressed with any of the echo dealers in my area. Plus i wanted to muff mod/tune it. I've heard the stories of...
