    Techniques For Cutting Hung Leaners?

Steve agree with you comments. Once you get your eyes on it to see what is going on in the canopy, I think you can get a cutting plan. I carry a throw rope that I can throw over mid length. It is long enough that I can double back to me. Standing away from the tree I can pull down to start a...

    Techniques For Cutting Hung Leaners?

Steve if the top is captured, locked in place, then you can leave it and someday a wind storm might bring it down. I leave trees all the time like this if they are safely attached at the crown. As soon as you detach the tree from the base you're going to have to finish it. Sometime I can cut...

So what do you guys think about your first autotune or mtronic saw after you have ran regular carbs for years??

I did not realized it was a video.?. OMG! The guy just damaged the crosscut teeth and the set. Never let a crosscut saw drop.

    Stihl 461 kicking back

Our trail crew has a Stihl 290 that was kicking back very badly. This is all that I did to it: Pressured and vacuumed tested fine. Took carb apart and cleaned, put back together with existing gaskets. Cleaned and reset plug gap. Re-gapped coil to flywheel, it was off a little. Fuel was the...

    Hit metal today-chain still usable?

. I too have been doing this for years. The round file only has so many pushes in it's life. By using a flat file to take back the top plate then using the round file to shape the profile saves some filing time also some life on the round file. Patrick

Chain locks up, smoke from clutch, chain and bar suddenly super-tight

Perhaps new bar and chains to go along with a new spur sprocket. Your existing chain drive links might be compromised. Have any pictures? Any pictures of bar rails and end sprocket? Your on the right track

So what do you guys think about your first autotune or mtronic saw after you have ran regular carbs for years??

I have been running all my Stihl MTronics saws without any hassle or drama the last few years. A while back I decided to run a few tanks through the Stihl 361. After cutting some I said, oh yea, I need to tweak the screws for better performance. It is not a bad thing, I just needed to do it...

How fast can you change your bar and chain?

Good for him, not going to cut with it that way. not finished yet... He is fast I'll give him that. His nuts are loose. In real life you take out the spare chain and it is all twisted up... Bugger... :badpc:

    Cannot start MS260

All I can add is... have your phone with you and take lots of pictures as you disassemble along with tabs you write on to attach to parts. A sharpie to mark parts that join to match going back together. Lots of small tubs, margarine containers you can put a label on it and put parts that go...

Thinking about MS 400. Is my 462 a keeper?

Yes, me too. When I first start up a saw I'll let it idle and at times when in a new elevation or temperature environment I can hear the chip adjusting RPM while warming up. Then good to go. I think the real need to recalibrate is when you have confused the heck out of it and faults out...

two stihl ms362c's mtronics with problems :)

Can check the wire harness for breaks. Can change out the fuel solenoid. (possibly most likely) Can check the carb air valve control for sticking or weak spring. A few vids from West Coast Muscle Saws I found for you. Better to show than describe it. Very short to the point video's. . Wire...

    500i bar choice

My 500i carry both 28" and 36" clearing blowdown trial trees. Skip chain only on 28". On this saw stock dogs you are short with bar length. 28 inch measure around 1.5 inch less. Our neck of the woods .050 is standard.

400c Rumors… or just internet trolls.

Though I might not have any issues but when I'm at 10,000 foot elevation on a hot summer day cutting long cut times, why take a risk. The price is cheap enough to burn 91 octane for added insurance to prevent detonation issues that I may or may not experience.
