    Poulan 2000 "Woodsman" carb issue

Update: I found a new replacement carb for $12 and went with that, I don't know as much about rebuilding as I should. It's a no name replica. I took the choke butterfly/shaft off as this saw has a different setup, and it looks like it will fit. Which of the two little brass nipples accepts...

    Poulan 2000 "Woodsman" carb issue

I'm not a carb expert. Is the duckbill the little piece that is moved by the diaphragm? I didn't realize it would need an adjustment, but that makes sense if its opening the needle valve too much. What's the reference to the "correct plug"? Thanks again.

    Poulan 2000 "Woodsman" carb issue

My neighbor asked me to look at this saw for him, he couldn't get it to start. I narrowed down the problem to fuel not getting to the carb. Replaced the fuel line and still no fuel. Started tearing into the carb (Walbro WT20) and found that it wouldn't accept fuel coming in. I attached a...

    Huztl MS660

I've just put together a Farmertec 660 clone. Thanks for all the help that's here. I started it yesterday and it runs, still need to get it tuned up and fix a few odds and ends before its finished. The decomp that was with it seems to be leaking by really badly. I think it's junk. I put a...

    Depth gauge question

I'm not new to saws, but I've never been really good at sharpening chains, I had access to an oregon sharpener at work so I used that. I'm trying to get the hang of doing it manually with a file now. I just came into about 40 acres of hardwood tops so that's what I'll be cutting for a while...

    Are fire bricks necesarry?

I have an older woodstove, Craft is the name brand. When I got it from my grandparents, it didn't have any bricks in it when I got it. I've been burning it for a few years without any in it. Am I asking for trouble? If it does need them, do they just go in the bottom or do the sides need to...

    cutting stumps

I have a stump in my backyard from a tree I took down last summer. It had about 5 main trunks coming out of the one, its probably about 2-3 feet diameter, its more of an oval not a circle. At any rate, my issue is, my saw doesn't seem to want to cut this at all. I put it on a smaller piece...

    Help with a woodstove install

I thought about cutting a hole in a piece of sheetmetal. How would I go about sealing between the metal and the brick? just cut the sheet a little bigger than the hole? Do I need to put an elbow on the end of the pipe to direct the exhaust upwards, or if the opening is covered by metal...

    Help with a woodstove install

I bought a house and I'm trying to get the woodstove installed...its getting cold now... I'll post up some pictures, but here is what I have. The house has a fireplace in the basement. The stove will sit on the floor, a foot or so from the front of the fireplace. The stove has the chimney...

    Some general stove questions

First off, my insurance co. says any stove I have needs to be UL listed/approved. Does anybody know where I can find a listing of stoves that qualify. Second off, I looked at an old Timberline stove this morning. The question about it is, there is no way to connect a fan to it to force hot...

    Proper Splitting Swing

but what if i can swing a maul as fast as you can swing an axe? (not saying for sure that i can...) that would yield more splitting power right?

    Proper Splitting Swing

for me, i don't use a block so much to elevate the piece being split. the block is something to give me a level surface, that chips can be raked off of easily. more importantly, it puts all the energy of the swing into the piece being split, not into the ground around it (maybe your ground is...

What PPE do you use and why ?

i very rarely crank up the saw without chaps, ear plugs, and safety glasses. only time i won't is if im cutting up a small limb while camping or something. and if i've had a beer or two, at least the chaps usually go on...safety first! i do need to look into a hard hat for the little bit of...

    "summer-izing" my woodstove

I think im ready to shut down my woodstove for the summer. last year was my first year with one, and i just left a pile of ash in it, that ate through my grate over the summer. i've got it shoveled out as good as i can now. do i need to vacuum it out or wash it down, or spray something inside...
