    Poll....Splitter valve and power beyond

A more important question is: What is the capacity of the pump and what are the cylinder sizes? When I was "engineering" my splitter build, I worked everything around a 28gpm pump. What I found while doing the math was that the 10x2 cylinder for the log lift would launch the log rather than...

How would you deal with these beast rounds

With the correct technique and tools, noodling is much faster than any other method (except explosives... LOL). We routinely reduce our big rounds with a 460 or 395 wearing a 24" and full skip. It goes FAST.... We are currently dealing with a 14k trailer load of 54" white oak....

    Dump trailers

Our PJ "low pro" dump has the axles in the exact same location as their reck-overs. The dump pivots on the frame, not the axles.

    Dump trailers

Also a deck-over usually gains an extra 8" of bed width (if that matters). For us, we prefer the lower sides and less climbing. We can easily overload the trailer now. An extra 8" width gains us nothing.

    Dump trailers

We found the single cylinders to be less stable and the double took longer to dump. I just prefer the scissor lift. I can get up on the fender with it in a full up position and literally bounce the whole trailer with no side sway when trying to dislodge wet sand or sawdust (when I forgot a rake...

    What fuel/mix do you use?

    Dump trailers

We have a 14' PJ dump trailer exactly like this one: 14' PJ Dump Trailer Going with a low profile cuts the inside width from 7'-6" down to 6'-10". But that 8" is really insignificant since you can still easily load it well beyond its 14k capacity. Also, when we purchased the trailer, we had...

Built Rite Splitter - first impressions

What you have installed is a flow restrictor (or limiter), not a flow control valve. Here's the link: http://www.haldex.com/Global/Hydraulics/Product%20Catalogs/hi_lo_pg_rev1203.pdf Apparently, someone forgot to tell Prince Hydraulics that their Flow Control Valve doesn't work as...

Built Rite Splitter - first impressions

Trust me... you do not want 28gpm going to the log lift or the wedge lift. The log lift becomes a catapult! Install a flow control valve diverting 5gpm to the accessroy functions and magically your flow to the main ram is below the Prince mandated 25gpm max.

Log splitter cylinder 2500psi vs 3000psi?

Cool... then you won't mind sharing copies of your part manufacturer's safety cut-sheets showing them all rated for that pressure! That's awesome... Oh wait... you haven't showed us anything. You've just SAID it's true... AND... you have a vested interest in us believing it. Come on...

    338XPT Husqvarna vs.ms200stihl

no coment. I don't care what a bottle of oil mix says! I go by the instructions in the saw's owner's manual. That oil could be dacades old. Back in the 1980's, several different mix's were used. But I can tell you that the manual that came with the Husqvarna 50 that I bought in 1989 syas...

    338XPT Husqvarna vs.ms200stihl

Treetom... I'll be glad to take that POS 338 off your hands for you. I won't even charge you a disposal fee. Just carefully package it and send it to me...

Any ideas for blocking logs other than cutting on the ground?

Agreed... But some people don't have the experience to read the reactions of the saw while cutting. A longer bar can create more kickback force, so an inexperienced user can get himself in trouble real fast.

Any ideas for blocking logs other than cutting on the ground?

By your previous posts, we know that you are dealing with 8' - 8'6" "logs". Cutting into approximately 16" pieces means that you will be making 5 cuts per "log". Based on the diamter of the "logs" in your picture, we are talking about a few seconds per cut, even with a small saw. I continue...

Log splitter cylinder 2500psi vs 3000psi?

:welcome: :welcome: As I have stated before, until someone can show me where ANSI or ASME recognizes safety ratings based on "intermittent pressure", it's all smoke and mirrors. The companies that manufacture the parts don't have those higher ratings, so how can combining the components...

    Will this work?

The torsion applied to the hitch receiver with the "crane" extended enough to clear the size rounds you mentioned would likely twist the receiver from the hitch. At the very least, the rounded edges of the insert might wedge themselves into the receiver. I wouldn't mount the crane in the...

What do you do to make starting the splitter easier during cold temperatures?

Proper spark and proper fuel/air mix should fire fairly easily. If you are having problems, as stated above, check plug condition / gap, throttle plate position, and also check spark directly from coil / magneto.

Any ideas for blocking logs other than cutting on the ground?

As I said earlier, I usually work them in place on the pile. However, when I've use the skidsteer, I work a few blocks off one end, then a few off the other. By the time you get to the mid section supported by the forks, you've got a pile of blocks that the remainder of the length can be set...
