    Vinyl truck lettering

in my opinion it doesn't matter how big or how much lettering you have, if people are looking for tree work and you look like a reputable company they will make sure they see the name on your truck. lettering does not sell work, quality does.

Ford 800 with altec 60 foot working height.

had a altec aa600 boom that did not like, it is slow and not agile. have a altec overcenter boom now, a lot better unit in my opinion. allison trans should not be a problem, cummins is a plus on the engine.

    Vermeer 1230/1250 plugging

don't throw your rakings in the chipper, hard on the knives and also causes plugging, especially when they are wet. change your knives at least every 100 hours if not more often. get someone who knows how to sharpen knives to do the sharpening. vermeer usually has a good machinist do the...

    Tractors

Ryan, as kf-tree said in another thread, "please don't start this tit for tat thing with me" I was trying to save you a little heart ache but I didn't REALIZE you already knew everything, or at least your cousins do. Palmer

    Tractors

just a little hint Ryan, don't use the loader with out having a counter weight on the back side of the tractor. when we first got our tractor, we would pick up logs and not have the rear wheels on the ground, just the fronts would be pulling. that results in to much strain on the transfer...

    equip a tree company

well also just 2 people and we have a list of stuff, (some junk-some not). bucket truck, 2 chip dumps (20 yd and 12 yd), knuckle boom truck, 12" chipper, stump grinder, 1 ton, 3/4 ton, loader tractor, nissan bid truck. that is to much for 2 people and we could probably make it on less...

    Tractors

We use a 30 hp 4 wheel drive with a loader on alot of our jobs. We use it to load chunk wood when we can't get a loader truck close enough or if it not to much. Don't really move much brush with it, but we do clean up the last rakings and clean up stump shavings quite a bit. We do not tear up...

    Tree felling and rigging courses

I have heard that Arbormaster is coming to Nashville sometime around March with the climbing skills and Felling modules, not sure about the rigging. You ought to come up and visit Music city and get educated all at the same time, or teach us some things. Climbing skills is a prerequisite to...

What is your monthly gas bill avg.

We have diesel tanks at the shop, 300 gal of road fuel will last about 2-3 months (chip truck and bucket), in the same time we will burn around 150 - 200 gal of chipper/tractor fuel. When we ran a gas chip truck I might put $150+ per week, then some weeks none. Our months are like TreeTx...

    educating?

How much time will you have? A mistake I have made in the past is to have to many visual aids, you end up not having time to talk about the ones that you really want to because you spent to much time on the less important ones. Keep it simple, you can keep attention and promote participation...

    Bandit 1250 chipper feed problem

I don't know anything at all about a Bandit chipper, does it have an autofeed similar to a Vermeer. Our Vermeer feed wheels will not start until the engine is up to speed unless you shut off the autofeed. Also the Vermeer has variable speed feed wheels that allow you to adjust the hydraulic...

Ever Cut Down the Wrong Tree??

I heard this one from a client that used to work at a golf course. The course was adding a new hole through the woods so they tagged all of the trees that they wanted to keep. The dozer operator thought that the tagged tree were to come out. Needless to say they ended up with a fairway full...

    Storing Saw

Any time you store a 2-cycle engine wet it should have a quality fuel stabilizer added to it, Sta-bil is all that comes to my mind right now. That is the biggest problem with homeowners saws, weedeaters, etc. they buy a gallon of gas, mix oil with it and use it for 2 years, when you add oil to...
