    Ruined a good chain yesterday

If I end up reconditioning and sharpening the chain by hand the brick will be responsible for generating quite a bit of BTU's. Most likely end up using my buddy's chain grinder on that one. I'll take a little bit off at a time until it is good to go although the cutters will be somewhat smaller.

    Ruined a good chain yesterday

I had just started cutting some Siberian elm logs yesterday with a nearly new, freshly sharpened chain. I was about 2/3 of the way through the log and sparks started to fly. By the time I realized what was going on the chain was toast. I installed a new chain and finished cutting up the...

    MY NEW TSC 40TON SPLITTER.

I made the mistake of going to TSC on Black Friday and this newer version of the 22 ton, now 25 ton, followed me home. 11.5 second cycle time, 4 1/2" cylinder, 14 gpm pump, the new front kickstand is great, and the warranty is second to none. $851 out the door. I have a good working...

    Broken Log Splitter Control Handle

That looks like an easy fix. You should be able to rig something up for a lot less then $20. Try a tractor or farm implement dealer. You may be able to pull one off of a bad valve. The big question is how did you do it?

    Broken Log Splitter Control Handle

A picture would help to determine if it is repairable. A new complete valve assembly is $50 so there is your worse case scenario.

    Cutting/Processing firewood in Central Idaho

Salmon Idaho is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Both the drives along the Salmon and Limhi rivers are worth the time. If I remerber right there is a good saw shop there also.

    Propane

For what it is worth I just paid $2 per gallon in central Utah to get my bottles filled, 50 gallons for the outdoor canning kitchen. If I had a larger tank I think I could have gotten it for around $1.80 delivered.

    Log Splitter Engine Problem

I am definitely not opposed to the harbor freight engines. I've replaced them on tillers and have a brand new one, in the box, just sitting there, just in case. With that said, the problem that Wood Doctor is describing is an easy fix. Changing out the motor for this problem would be like...

    Log Splitter Engine Problem

Sounds like a float or needle valve \ seat issue. Easy fix. Lots of YouTube videos on rebuilding Kohler command carburetors. Do change the oil after you fix the problem and before you start the engine. Do it in that order so you don't flood the fresh oil with gas. Been there, done that.

Do you dry your wood in IBC totes?

That Kubota will probably handle a full tote once the wood is dry. You can always fill your hoe up with some dirt and see if that helps with the counter balance weight.

Do you dry your wood in IBC totes?

A lot will depend on what their original use was for. If they are food grade, held some sort of food item, and can easily be cleaned out, they will sell for $75 to $100 around here. If they were used for a chemical or paint they will go for about $30. The food grade totes are reused for...

Do you dry your wood in IBC totes?

This is what I am currently using to move the firewood up to the house. The horizontal part of the carry all frame that act as the forks are too wide for this pallet tub so I am using a wooden pallet under the tub. The loaded tub in this picture is about the maximum weight that my TO20 can...

Do you dry your wood in IBC totes?

Some of these may eventually end up for firewood storage. I am not so concerned about using them to dry the wood as I am for being able to move the wood up next to the front door of the house when it comes time to burn it. I am using a 3 point carry all frame from tractor supply as a fork...

    Steel toe boots

Boots / feet are about as personal as it gets. Nobody is the same as the the next guy. I'm still suffering the effects of smashing the big toe on my left foot several years ago. Cutting one of my feet with a saw is a secondary concern to smashing one or all of my toes. I've had good luck with...

New log truck and trailer Oshkosh M977

Ditto. Maybe put a travel trailer on back. You could lift it on and off with the crane. Maybe register it as an RV.

    UTAH Wood Burning Ban

humm, I'm wondering why you would think that I am disappointed in Governor Herbie (Herbie is what he is affectionately called by many of his subjects) . This is why I think that it has only been put on the back burner and that it is not dead in the grave: http://www.ksl.com/?sid=34063914&nid=...

Some states fight to keep their wood fires burning

This article ran on a Utah online news outlet, but it is an AP story out of Jefferson City, MO. I thought that most of you might find it interesting. Sorry if it is old news. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=33708402&nid=157&title=some-states-fight-to-keep-their-wood-fires-burning&s_cid=queue-18
