    EAB Spread Rate

I think the proverbial "they" have found that these little green guys can fly much further in one year than they originally thought. I know it was well past our county several years before they confirmed it.

So, How Much You Burnt Since AS Got Hacked ?

Well the CB 6048 fire started burning about the middle of October (3 weeks later than last year) so we'll just say I'm in pretty good shape so far on wood.

    EAB in CT Further Quarantines???

I agree with the lost cause argument, you probably won't have to worry about it in another year. I don't live in the Northeast but here in Northern Illinois the quarantined counties were blown over by EAB before they went into affect. My guess would be that it's already in Rhode Island...

    Wood ID

I would say Ash, since you live in Pennsylvania and you found it along the roadside I would guess this tree was removed because it had EAB and those big fat leaves are resprouts from around the trunk, trying to catch as much sunlight as possible. Just a guess.

Can you identify these rounds of free firewood I picked up? (Round 3)

I don't see any silver maple in those pictures either, any of your pictures. I would say all in these last ones are red oak.

Can you identify these rounds of free firewood I picked up? (Round 3)

first ones look like hickory, those last ones look like red oak. What's the weight like? Is it all heavy? How does it split?

    Forced Air Thermostat help!

Thanks for the help guys, pretty sure I have it nailed down to the fan relay on the controller board on the furnace. Have someone coming to check it out Wednesday. Looks like I will have to burn up a few more gallons of propane this week, sucks! Should be a quick fix.

    EAB - Is It Here?

Those larvae look different than the EAB we have here. It could be deceiving though, we just found it here this past week. The tell tale sign is pealing the bark back and seeing all the tunnels. Seems we have had it here for awhile now that I start looking around at the Ash trees. Now that I...

Who's looked at the Global Village Construction Set?

I had never heard of this project before, what an idea, I will have to dig deeper there and look around. Thanks for posting this, here is a link to the wikipage

    Forced Air Thermostat help!

I did forget to mention that they both had low batteries this morning so they all get replaced. They are the electronic variety. I was wondering if they little relays might have gone. I guess my question now is, since I swapped them out would the relay be bad in both of them? Seems odd.

When's the last time the oil/gas man delivered to your tank?

Our 500 gallon tank gets filled once a year, I will run the propane furnace for awhile in the spring and fall, also the stove is gas fired as well. I keep an eye on prices and get it filled when it's down.

    Outdoor wood boilers.

I have a Central Boiler, don't have any pictures of the inside, it's dark and smokey in there at the moment. Here is a link to their website, the top image shows how the inside is designed.

    Forced Air Thermostat help!

So I have been running our Central Boiler for 3 years now, no problems with anything of concern, just the minor adjustments after initial setup. Fast forward to this morning, wake up a little late, hmmm should be nice and toasty in the house by now, that's odd. Go down and check the thermostat...

Hey Steve, I have always enjoyed reading your wood cutting stories and insight, keep it up!

OK, now it's gone too far

We have seen several clumps of tulips and daffodils pop out of the ground as well, pretty far out on the south side of the house. Sounds like the bottom will drop out here on Wednesday night.

    My mess

Those look like nice pallets, are they plastic? would be nice to get a handful of those so I don't have to worry about replacing them every couple years. You have a nice looking firewood setup in your yard there! Your trailer looks alot like mine (yours is in better shape!!), mine is an...

    This is just flat unbelievable!

I agree spider that the human race will find a way to power through most anything that will come of the planet. But when you say that "the atmosphere and climate of this planet has been an ever-changing process since the beginning of time, sometimes in rapid drastic ways and at other times...

    This is just flat unbelievable!

I don't want to hijack the thread here but this isn't completely accurate. Volcanic eruptions in no way answer the question of why CO2 in the atmosphere and average global temps have been rising at an exponential rate since the start of the industrial revolution. Global warming could be a huge...

    Chimney on outdoor wood furnace?

I also have the CB 6048 and have 12 feet of chimney on mine. I just added a four foot section on it this past fall from the original 8 that came with it, wanted to get the exhaust up over the wood shed and house. Wasn't a huge issue with the seasoned wood but figured what the hell. I haven't...
