    I agree with Slowp, check into local regulations and laws first. Might be the least expensive as far as work goes but in the long run could cost much more in fines and pulling everything back out

    reason on the barsaw over the hotsaw for logs i see is that the hotsaw can tear the ends up, more so than the bar saw. we had a 33" barsaw

    Hot saws are nice for wood, alot faster, but if cutting mostly logs a barsaw is the way to go. Did the whole cut and bunch with a timbco 425c had the cummins in it, wasnt to bad. limbed and bucked by hand and grapple skidder to the landing. decent production

    If possible skid the logs out tree length, or just cut them where they crotch, or large knots are and let the mill come out and mark them where they want them cut

    Try putting the nut and ccatcher on the clutch cover, which is correct. That way its not on the saw when trying to change the chain

    try filing your chain with so that the top plate is almost straight across, same goes for cutting frozen hard maple

    Help with Bucking for Grade

    when im marking out logs, i try to remember 3 things. keep them straight, keep knots on the ends of the logs, and dont be afraid to take a chunk out to make a better log. I have seen alot of guys make a 16 foot log that is clean, but looks more like a banana, and should have been made into 2...
