    Makita 510

My Dolmar 510 will pull a 20" Oregon Power match bar pretty well. I don't often use it though. I use the 17" that came with it. I have used the bigger bar now and then, but it is a little slower.

Considerations for bar length when purchasing new saw

Be sure you have enough Horse power to pull the chain on the bigger bar. Keep the chain sharp, and dont try to go too fast. Stay with the length recomended by the MFG

    Drop it in the river

Can you safely drop it, not in the river, then cut it up and haul it off or use it for firewood? More work but maybe better than putting it in the river.

Advice on Techniques to Cut a Tree up (Tornado Damage)

I did a similar tree that was downed by a hurricane. I started at the top, carefully removing the large limbs over head, dropping them and clearing them out of the way. (always be aware of spring tension on the limbs) then limbed it like I would if it had been cut down for timber. Then cut up...

I need recommendations for a brushcutter to cut bamboo

Stihl FS 110, Honda, Dolmar, Shindiawa, Get the biggest one you can afford with a saw blade on it. (I use my FS 90 on bamboo and small brush and grass all day long. I don't often wish for more power, and when I do, I usually sharpen the blade and keep going.

FS 350 brushcutter runs fine for a short period, sputters and stalls.

I had a similar problem with my FS 90. I took the carburator apart and found pieces of what appeared to be orange silicone gasket material in the pulse line from the engine to the carb, and in the carburator itself. I cleanded that out and had no further problem. No clue how that stuff got in...

Advice on fixing an AL ladder

Ladder you might be able to re use it, but I wouldn't. If you are using it on the job, and some one gets hurt because it fails, you are responsible.

What You Should Do If You Get Hurt in the Woods When Alone

Basic Survival 1. Have a GPS, and some sort of communication. (Remember that electronic equipment can fail) Have a good general idea of where you are, and carry a compass as a back up. 2. Use your head. Avoid injury. Use your PPE, but remember that PPE is not the end all beat all. It...

    Trail cutting chainsaw

I use a dolmar PS 510 for a trail saw. Relativly inexpensive, Good Quality 50 cc 3.4 HP. I have used it for about 4 years now with no problems at all. That saw, and a still FS 90 brush cutter keep my trails open, and make new trails just fine.

oil mix......to do or not to do

Saving Money It's false economy to use "Cheap"oil when you consider the cost of down time and rebuilding or replacing equipment.
