    Husky 61 fuel line?

I have my uncle's Husky 61. He passed away last year and I got his saw, a Peavy, a splitting maul, and a few other things from his tool shed when I stopped to see my aunt. I also got the last pair of work gloves he wore (that I know of). Funny the things you find meaningful, but these mean a lot...

    What's on your bench? 9-15-2012

Two Walbro carbs (011 and 026) and a Zama (hl75 hedge trimmer). All 3 are ripe for new diaphragms. Also several lonely chains looking for love from the sharpener. And some tools I am too lazy to put away when I'm done.

    028 Super Ignition Replacement

Good to know. I just picked up an 028 Super with case for $125 to replace my beater 028 WB. Never know when I will need a coil. Gary, I hope it runs good. Did you put a new head gasket when you did the ring job, or did you go metal to metal and increase the squish?

    Chain binding in bar

parts availability OK, here is the deal: I need ORF-30384x from Baileys, and ORF-37517. (Note part number prefix changed from RD-... and DSB... to ORF). The kit does NOT include the chain brake dust cover with the larger hole. For that, I need Stihl 1118 021 1104. They are sold out or...

    Chain binding in bar

I agree with y'all - I will fix it right. I will look for an upgrade kit so I can put a rim sprocket on it. A $6 rim is an easy maintenance expense. A $30 clutch drum+sprocket always makes me think twice. By the way - had a frustrating day cutting yesterday. Every one of my saws is between 20...

    Chain binding in bar

I'm going to run the saw today along with the 026 and my son's 011. I'll see how it holds up with the bar cleaned up and the oil holes cleared. When I take it apart to clean it up tomorrow, I will take pictures of the 028 sprocket and lcutch drum and post them here.

    Chain binding in bar

Bad news - Ace definitely cannot get the old sprocket for me. The parts guy showed me a service bulletin from 1981 with a whole kit that replaces the old style sprocket and drum and chain brake cover. And he said most of these old parts do not show up in his parts search anymore. So if anyone...

    Chain binding in bar

Hey Hobies, I have the clutch and sprocket combination that is NOT shown in this IPL. I have the same IPL and tried to look it up. The clutch drum is the one between parts 40 and 41 on your page, and that does not show the sprocket that engages with the slots in it. If it helps any, I have the...

    Chain binding in bar

Can't find the right sprocket!! Help! I went to Ace for the sprocket. They had one listed for the 028, but it doesn't fit. It is a one piece clutch drum and wide sprocket teeth sticking out the inner chain brake cover. My old sprocket is circlipped onto the clutch drum with the bearing...

    Off topic : Tecumseh carburetor

Yeah, ANY replacement for a Tecumseh carb is bound to be an improvement. I have an HM100 10 hp on the backyard chipper in my avatar. It runs fine after rebuilding the engine with a thrown rod. The carb was the worst part of getting it running.

    Chain binding in bar

I was running my newly ported 46mm Stihl 028 a couple of weeks ago taking down trees for neighbors (they paid me in beer and my 13-year old son in cash). The saw ran great, but for some reason the chain kept binding up on the bar and I had to take the bar off, clean out under the bar cover...

    028WB to ported 028S project

Thread REVIVED I neglected the project, and this thread, for a year (just look at the date of the last post). So FINALLY last weekend I spent a couple of hours at my workbench taking the old 42 mm P&C off and mounting up the ported 46 mm Super P&C. I checked squish before putting the new...

    I saw it on Ebay/Craigslist

4 saws 4 Stihl saws +extras I have called this guy a couple of times. He doesn't really know what his saws are except the 044, but he really expects to get $700 for all of them. He siad "they all ran last year". I offered him $450 for all 4 sight unseen, but he wouldn't take it. Ad has...

    Stihl 028 super or AV

Re: squish, I just bolted my ported 46 mm Super cylinder & piston onto my old 42 mm Woodboss chassis. The squish, as checked by the solder-wire-taped to the piston crown method, was more than 0.020 with no gasket - just metal to metal. So I bolted it down with Permatex Copper, but I haven't...

    Fun with ethanol

Back in June, the Senate voted to rescind the federal subsidy to oil refiners for mixing ethanol into gasoline, to the tune of $5 billion. The subsidy ends Dec 31, 2011. I am watching closely to see what that will mean in 2012 to the price of pump gas, the number of stations "offering" 10%...

Are you guys on the East coast getting ready for the Hurricane?

Storm passed by Charleston SC well out in the Atlantic. No problems here. Guess the Stihls will stay on the shelf again this weekend.

    Hud-Son's (Dan Hudon) Mapledale NY

Just thought I'd post some props for Hud-Son's of Mapledale, NY, next town over from my home town of Holland Patent. I visit my Dad up here every couple of summers and always make it a point to stop at Hud-Son's. Back in the day, they were called Dan Hudon's (founding owner). I dropped by for...
