I watched it last nite. I was thinking that was a real waste of what seemed like a nice saw.

Thats much better looking than the one I made! I gabbed a piece of angle iron and drilled 2 holes for the bar studs and one larger hole to clear the end of the crank. It work perfect, so I know yours will work even better.

Thnx Doc, It makes sense, I am aware of the 181 using the wire linkage and the 288 using the roller that contacts the throttle linkage. I wasn't aware however that the case needs to be opended up for the 288 linkage. I guess if the screws could be removed that holds the butterfly, the throttle...

I'm still gathering parts for my 181/288 Hybrid build. Was wondering if the 181 carb will work fine on a 288 jug or do I need a 288 carb? Taylor...

Does the 288 have the enrichment valve? If so, and it is gummed up it will have similar problems.

I know nothing at all about that saw. But, yes, reeds should be closed. Slightly off the seat is normal for older, used reeds, but they should be closed for best results.

C'mon, he is a good guy! He stated the saws sell for $500, now he has lowered the price to only $300 per saw. He's taking a loss on the deal! :dizzy: Also, Denver to Corpus Christi is only 1077 miles, not sure where he is getting his mileages from.

For other than OEM, I prefer Meteor pistons. I have never seen a Golf. The info from other users seems to indicate the Golf pistons can be very hit or miss in quality.

I have a 268xp I'm getting ready to put together. I have a few questions I would like your input on... 1. I notice the 272 has a heat shield between the muffler and cylinder. Would there be any benefit to adding one to a 268? 2. If I use a 272 cylinder on this build, will the 268 carb work...
