Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

Let me start by saying thank you to everyone for all the help and suggestions. It was me all along.. Everytime I set the jets, I wasn't fully seating them before backing them out 1 turn. I was actually probably 2-3 turns out when I thought I was seated... I was worried about...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

I may end up buying a new carb. I'd like to avoid it, but it may come to that. The IPL I posted above has 2 carb numbers. Page 3, #8: 530071987 Carburetor - W-29 and the last page: 530035269 Kit--Carburetor Repair (Zama) The first one appears to be the carb, but the price is about $25...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

I was at walmart last night and I checked out how much force it takes to pull a Poulan chainsaw and it was about the same as this saw. I compared it to the poulan because everyone says that is basically what the 142 is. I also checked the compression on a Homelite saw with a bigger motor and...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

Ahh, well that could explain some of the low compression. My compression tester is made by K-D Tools. Probably this one: http://www.amazon.com/K-D-Tools-2428-Compression-Tester/dp/B0002SQW8Y It has the one way valve, but it is made for a normal (full size) engine. Still though, it...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

That is how I installed them, with the seals facing outward or the bearing rollers inward.

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HIPL/HIPL2005/HIPL2005_5440249-01.pdf I was going to try to replace the bearings, but the cheap tool I ordered off ebay was the wrong size (it was only 4.70 shipped, so I gambled). The seals are still in place around the bearings, and they are...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

I replaced both the cylinder and the piston with OE parts.

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

I decided to tear down the saw to inspect the piston/cylinder as my compression is only about 80#. Everything looks great, just like new (which it was yesterday. I put it back together today, putting a small bead of RTV on the crankcase cover, then tightening it down until the rtv compressed...

Husky 142, trying to start after rebuild

I just rebuilt a Husky 142 Chainsaw that had cylinder damage from, I'm guessing, a poorly tuned carb. After I had the engine mostly together, I sprayed some fogging oil in the intake hole(with carb off) and then I also put a bit of 2 stroke oil in there. I was worried about lubrication while...

    Tuning carb on Husky 122

:monkey: I'm sorry, I wrote the wrong model. The correct model is 142. Is there a different set of instructions that are more appropriate to the 142. Thanks again for posting the orignal doc.

Husky 122: How do you remove the worm gear to replace main bearings?

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't thought of checking ebay. I just ordered one off of there for 4.60 shipped. It may not be the right one, but for under 5, I'll give it a try. If it isn't right, I may just reuse my old bearing as the saw is pretty new still. I was just trying to do it "right".

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I wanted.

    Tuning carb on Husky 122

Does anyone have any tips to tune the high and low jets on a Husky 122? Also, I believe the tool that is used to turn the adjusting screws is missing, assuming it came with one. That means I will most likely be adjusting the saw with the plastic cover off so that I can turn the screws with a...

Husky 122: How do you remove the worm gear to replace main bearings?

I am in the process of rebuilding a fairly new Husky 142 that most likely had bad gas go through it. I ordered a new cylinder and piston and am stuck trying to remove the oil systems worm gear. I read a post that mentioned putting a nut over the worm gear, but I'm not sure it was a similar...

    Husqvarna E 142.. not starting..please help

I checked my turbo and it isn't overboosting. :dizzy: I'm going to order these new parts and see if I can't get it to tune up properly. I'm also going to look at the gas that was used and see if that was the culpret. The vent in the gas tank, how would you check that? It is a small metal...

    Husqvarna E 142.. not starting..please help

Here are 2 more pictures. The piston picture shows the exhaust side of the piston. The gouges are very evident in the picture, although I was having an issue with focus so the picture lacks real detail. The intake side of the piston is in great shape, as well as the intake side of the...

    Husqvarna E 142.. not starting..please help

The dealer would be Lowes. I've read other people writing about the 142 from Lowes and they didn't have any luck with repairs.

    Husqvarna E 142.. not starting..please help

This is Mike's brother. I took the engine apart and I'd like for someone to take a look at the picture of the cylinder. I can take a picture of the piston if that is helpful. I found a place where I can get the cylinder and piston kit (both poulan part numbers, not aftermarket) for 82...
