    The Perfect Gas Can…

I have one of these cans and it works great for me. I use it for two stroke mixed gas for chainsaws and OPE. Used it for about five years with no trouble.

    Chainsaw Chaps/Pants

Labonville, chaps and I use a belt keeper to attach them to a rear belt loop on my pants to hold them up. I have suspenders on my pants and the belt keeper really helps.

    562xp Max bar length

I have a Husky 555, which is like it’s lesser twin brother and I feel 24” is plenty of bar for that saw.

How hot does your wood stove get?

I put a small fan near my stove to blow warm/hot air were I want it. That helps keep the area behind the stove cooler. Also helps the rest of the house heat up faster.

Converting Easy Start on MS250C to MS250 starter - can I get some advice

I just converted an MS250 to two bar nuts & conventional chain adjust. I do not want to convert the EZ start to conventional starter because I use this small saw when cutting on piles where a 24 or 32” bar are too much. I like the EZ start when I’m on piles or in brush and limbs. I think it’s...

    Husqvarna 555 forgotten saw?

I bought a 555 over the 562 because the $100 difference was a lot to me at the time. I run a 24” b&c and recently added a 3/4 wrap handle that Husqvarna sells. I have had zero issues with this saw and have cut about 20 cords of wood and lots of small trees and brush that don’t go towards...

    Stihl 044 28 inch bar

Should be no problem. We run 32” on that sized saw in our PNW soft wood. Turn the oiler wide open and have fun. Use skip tooth chain though.

    Husqvarna 565 & 555, Forgotten Saws?

I bought the 555 instead of the 562 because of the price difference and my finances at the time. It’t been a great saw and has plenty of power to use a 24” bar in west coast wood. I recently cut a 24” doug fir that it handled with no trouble. I also just added a 3/4 wrap handle and oversized...

Toughest, most indestructable saw ever built?

8’ cross cut ‘misery whip’ for a few days while the chainsaw he broke is in the shop. Bet he is more careful with the chainsaw after that…

    Saws That Surprised You

I just picked up a used MS250. That little saw surprised me with its power and cutting speed with the .325 chain.

How to tell if a chain is dull?

Use your eyes and look for that clean crisp edge with no shine or reflection of any type, that means it is sharp. Any shininess along that edge is dullness. No need to touch the edge with fingers to check sharpness, just look at it. You might need to file - grind these chains to get the cutter...

    Stihl 064

I had one and it was a great saw for me. Lots of power for the weight. wish I still had it.

Chainsaw (window) shopping; the longest bar I ever saw.

It looks like there is a pipe on the saw in the back ground. Probably a fun shop to visit.

Mods Please Do Not Move This To The Chainsaw Forum

I run everything at 30 degree & .030" depth, standard and skip 3/8". About the hardest thing to cut around here is dry & pitchy Doug Fir that's full of knots. You're cutting along fine and then your chain stops cutting and you think you rocked it. You see the chain is still sharp and that it's...

    Drop starting?

I’ve always drop started and never had any trouble. I tried to start using the foot on rear handle method and hated it. I see no reason to change as long as I can still do it.

    Best fuel cans

No Spill can in 1.25 gallon size for chainsaws and weed eater. It has worked great since new. It is by far the best of the “New & Improved” gas cans I have used. I don’t think I would ever change from it, I like it so well.

Chain sharpening. What's your favorite method?

The Swedish roller guide is the answer to my lifetime of filing woes. I have a HF grinder that works okay. I also have access to Silvey grinders in both round and square chisel. I still choose the roller guide over everything else.

Stihl MS360, 20" Bar, Skip Chain?

I’ve ran skip tooth chain on 20”-32” bars cutting PNW softwood. I’ve also ran full comp on all of them and I prefer full comp on 25” and shorter, with skip on anything over 25”. Just keep it sharp.

    Full wrap handle opinions please!

Full wrap is a must for falling, limbing, and being a pro woods saw. They are nice for firewood bucking, but not required imho. I do miss not having it on two firewood saws. Put on a wrap handle and enjoy the extra hand positions. Keep a sharp chain and let the saw do the work.

    "You Suck" Thread 2020"--Pics required!

I did Some vehicle work for my neighbor and he left me this when he moved away. He had recently inherited a home and this was in the estate. He didn’t know anything about chainsaws and knew that I used them. I had to fix a throttle trigger spring, carb kit, new 24” bar and chain. Had a 20” on...
