    Redneck Ultrasonic Carb Cleaner:Cost 0$

I use an Omegasonics at work Does anyone know if it's bad to put your hand in there while it's running? Did it after I dropped a part in there, feels weird (didn't hold my hand in there long!) Suppose I could dig out the inst. manual...

    Spike60 is the man

Very fortunate to know him, we all are. Fair pricing, helpful advice and overall knowledge of his products makes him the guy to call. Thanks Bob!

    Did anyone watch Leno?

If Leno was a saw nut like the rest of use, could you imagine the collection he'd have? He'd probably have bikesaw with a turbo 'Busa engine!:chainsawguy:

    Oil

The reason you had problems is you effectively leaned the bike out mixing that rich. Golden Spectro is made for a 40-50:1 ratio in a modern MXer. Way too much at 32:1 on a bike with Power Valve. Probably also didn't mix the tank(Hold front brake, shake the bike) The only two issues with Gold...

    Oil

OOps, I do know that Golden Spectro is semi synth, and the new SX is full synth. Don't think it's castor...

    Oil

Been using Spectro SX at 40:1. (Work at a bike shop that has sold/raced with Spectro for 25+ years) Front of the bottle says 32:1, the rep said it's formulated to run at that ratio. But you turn it 'round and on the back it says to mix it with 4-6 gallons (12 oz container) I always used the...

    Question for the "porters"

Brad and Parrisw I agree with you as far as not raising the exhaust to get the 25 degrees blowdown. Rather make compression/torque. It occurs to me that like any engine build, you need to decide what you want, can't have it all, and do things that support your goal. It all works together...

    Question for the "porters"

That's what I did, doesn't last forever, but it's cheap and easy!

    Question for the "porters"

Yeah, I did that before but the 262 is running a new husky piston, and I worry about shortening the skirt for longevity (not that a few thou makes any diff, probably). Might be able to get a Golf to test with. Hey, Wood grenade!!

    262XP project (pic heavy)

Mine was at .016"-.017" with the Beer can. Made me nervous so I changed it for the thinnest gasket material I had, now it's at .023-.024" GRRRR! Too nervous to use something that's not "gasket material" Good thread, been waiting to find the stuff I lacked to put a 262 together for a while...

    Question for the "porters"

How does one go about figuring how much to lower the intake, if at all. I have several saws I've ported but feel as if the intake timing may unleash more power, but too afraid to remove some thing I can never put back. These are not race saws, and I want to hang onto torque as much as...

    Ported 262 starts hard

I'll check the pulley, and tomorrow check the flywheel again, post back with my findings

    Ported 262 starts hard

Thing runs GREAT once running, but the squish is tight, even though I had to try it, it's coming apart again. (Before it takes it self apart!) Ran before with stock cylinder and used piston, and remember it starting the same way, not as bad, figured it was the aftermarket coil, so I swapped an...

    Ported 262 starts hard

I've had the flywheel off, and timing is as delivered, not intentionally advanced. If it slipped it would retard, 'least that's what usually happens? Thanks for the reply, bit more info... The squish is a bit tight (.017") Found the thickness gasket to correct this. (tomorrow) Should mention...

    Ported 262 starts hard

My little 262 project is coming together, but starting it is difficult as it seems to want to fire early, as if the ignition is too advanced. Checked and rechecked the airgap, swapped coils, retarded the coil as far as the screw holes allow. Fires early, threatens to break the rope or the...

    Stihl 441 M-Tronic

That's not what I hope is the case, but you very well could be right, Brad. Eventually, the way things go, the systems will evolve, I think, and become more advanced/ intelligent. Meantime, if it is as you say, a simple carb and coil may be a better way to go for our purposes.

    Stihl 441 M-Tronic

Porting to match, polish, straighten, etc is increasing flow but this makes the system work better on the LTR's I port (EFI race quads) Guy's that own and operate these that I've built come back to tell me the factory teams are surprised when they are losing the holeshot to my motors. MIld port...

    Stihl 441 M-Tronic

If it can compensate for altitude, then it must have a MAP sensor, or some method of sensing air density. Maybe air flow, need more info. Anyway, it is able to adjust automatically, at least w/in limits. Don't get nervous, modders, this is a good step in the right direction. Now that EFI is...
