    Auxiliary oiler question?

Thank you all tons for the input. I have the oiler so I will use it. Can’t hurt. Already planning to use veggie oil. I’ll tap the bar and drill out the nut for better flow. This will be a dedicated setup at this point. Btw. How much bar can I realistically use w the 661? My mill is a 36” so...

    Auxiliary oiler question?

I have a new MS 661c. Added a Max Flow air filter and getting my Granberg set up to handle a 36” bar. I have the auxiliary oiler but there is no hole in my bar? Can I just use zip ties and let oil drip on the bar or do I need to drill a hole in my bar? If I need to drill where do I drill it...

    Husky 350 muffler bolts?

Yes. They are vibrating buggers and I've always had them glued in w lock tight but even that gave up on the Lowe bolt. I'll figure it out. The saw is mint and well worth the trouble. lb for lb and dollar for power this is one of the best firewood saws ever made. Does it have a few PIA things...

    Husky 350 muffler bolts?

I apologize. I did not mean the case. I meant the cylinder - my bad. I will look for them at another dealer or machine shop fastener store. Just figured others would likely have seen this issue. Thanks for the info Bob

    Husky 350 muffler bolts?

Stripped out in the case. The aluminum and onlybthe first few threads because that's all the OEM bolt reaches. There is plenty of thread beyond that and available to secure the muffler if I had longer bolts. I've spoken with Bailys and will stop by the husky dealer but assumed others have had...

    Husky 350 muffler bolts?

Ok. One of my 350 bolts stripped out the case. Everything else is mint but the bolts are not long enough to seat deeply and only grab a few threads, hence the issue. Bolts are 3.5". Do they make a 3.75 or 4" bolt? Where can I get some? Any other options for this issue? Thanks for any help

Advice on adding a baffle to my Dragon

Bushman - probably not much different here than there but I will be buzzing by on 69 in the AM so I will see if you all got the snow we have. For the baffle, if you have access, it will not need to be as heavy as you have now if stainless with a backer. You can get some on the flea bay and cut...

Advice on adding a baffle to my Dragon

Go stainless and get in touch with a welder. I have built baffled stoves and did mods to stoves with a baffle and tubes but that stove is in the welding/blacksmith shop so all the steel and tools were readily available.

    Any Englander NC30 deals?

The 30 is a great value at retail but they do go on sale at the tail end of a mild winter to make room for lawnmowers and patio furniture. Problem is this winter is going strong and may not be 1/2 over based no the weather report. That coupled with the "alleged" propane shortage and I doubt...

    How I get firewood out

WOW - that is what the earth looks like - not sure we will see that until May around here.

    new wood stove which one?

Lots of really good stove options out there but in the "bang for your buck" big stove world it is really, really tough to beat the Englander NC30 mentioned above. I bought mine through HD for 699.00 delivered to my door - an extra $50.00 got the two big dudes in the delivery truck to lug it...

How long 'til I burn it???

Outside boilers will take anything and burn it but even with those dryer is better so anything but the oak is probably your best bet as oak is reluctant to give up the moisture. Even splitting everything in 1/2 will speed up the seasoning significantly as rounds are slow to dry in any species...

How many years ahead should you be with firewood?

I like to keep at least 20 cord around to feel comfortable and burn 4 a year. as long as I can do it I try to replace what I am burning this year with Dbl so I continue to get further ahead. Those of you with 50-60+ cord have me jealous - I have some work to do!! For the record - it you keep...

How's your wood pile holding out?

I started with around 18 cord - put 4 in the basement and have replaced that x2 at least. I go through around 4 cord a season and start to get nervous when my stacks get below 15 so I am shooting for a comfortable 30 cord and then may take a year off. But I doubt it - I like the process and...

    Burning ash

I don't find it rots much at all beyond the stump and with all the dead ash available in Michigan I let mother nature do most of my felling and clean up after her in my woods. Even stuff that has been on the ground for a couple years is still very solid burning wood. Ash is 90% of what I burn...

Husqvarna 350 won't start after sitting; runs fine after gas put in intake to start

that's good stuff right there - I have a circa 2007 350 that is an awesome little saw but darn cold blooded. Don't need to prime the carb with gas but it takes a lot of pulls to get her running from a cold sit. Do you need the funky screw driver to tune them??

Hints, tips and tricks for noobs and geezers

The best way to measure the moisture content in your stacked firewood is with a multi year calendar. The more calendars the better. Get ahead. Way, way ahead. You will never regret it.

    Solar Firewood Kiln?

***"Half the incentive for doing this at all is making it from stuff you have, get for free, and/or runs for free...or at most runs off of firewood The dehumidifier costs a bit to buy, makes the project beholden to the utility company, and requires an electrical line, which requires a permit...
