excellent point - my ASSUMPTION is that the 3/8 will be easier to pull thru the log vs the 404, given that the 075 is not really a powerhouse saw, along with 3/8 being so much easier for me to get locally....
I happened to measure the kerf on some 404 vs 3/8 i have, amazingly they measure the...
i was just thinking, the only thing making a bar 3/8 or 404 is the sprocket, right? why can't i just replace the sprocket, or maybe that's what everyone does???
Hi guys, was wondering if anyone makes a 3/8 sprocket nose bar that mounts on 3002 mount Stihl?
Would like to convert my 075 to 3/8 from 404, but looking around it appears all big mount bars are 404......
One is a nice runner/cutter, it also has a higher compression kart head. Mac roller bar with sharp chain.
Second 44a is complete, runs on prime but carb is junk. Piston has slight scoring but compression "feels" ok yet. This saw has an Oregon roller bar.
Also have two 1-50's as parts saws...
Hi guys, I am just getting into collecting the 87cc Macs - other than age, anyone happen to know the differences between these two saws?
Also, is there a lot of power difference between all the 87cc saws (44a vs super 250 vs 380 etc), or are they all similar to each other? Thanks for any info!
no, i'm saying my budget is anywhere between 50 up to a few hundred, obviously depending on the saw...need more details/pics before i throw numbers out on a specific saw..
Hi guys, I have an 075 with a roached top end....noticing a bunch of piston/cylinder kits anywhere from $60~$120.
Is this stuff garbage????
This would only be an occasional use saw for me, but would rather not install junk parts into it. With that said, I can only imagine oem will cost me more...
Looking for complete saw, doesn't have to be pretty, just want one to play with.
I'm located in southeastern Wisconsin, willing to travel for the right saw.
Thanks!
Hi guys, was at a show this past weekend and I noticed these 125 macs ran in their own class - was just wondering if there are/aren't any vintage saw that can even compete with these? Or maybe there aren't any comparable saws from other manufacturers?
Was just at an Ace around two weeks ago - 261, 362, 400, 462, 500i, 661 all on the shelf, and all the homeowner grade saws too.....prices were not outrageous - the 400 was 8something with 24" bar.
are you planning on running it on STRAIGHT RC fuel?????
if so, i guess you'd just have to treat this as a methanol engine???? meaning you gotta supply it a TON of fuel.....
My 026 since day one has had the exact symptoms. WT194 carb helped a little, but it's still a quirk of these saws. I've learned to gently pick the saw and use gentle motions for a second or two after it's been idling and feather the throttle a lit bit to clear out the puddling before it floods...
