    overfired

Just throw some hard to light stuff in with it, then you will be fine when starting. A solid log heavy log, stringy elm, for example. Stuff that burns great when there is a hot fire, but no good trying to start one with.

MTD 21 Ton Wood Splitter Locked Up!

Fixed it! Thanks for the input. Took the housing off, then it pulled fine so I put it back on. Got one pull out of it then it locked up again. Next day did the same thing only I lightly tapped with a hammer around the area where the pull cord prongs latch on to and turned the fly wheel many...

MTD 21 Ton Wood Splitter Locked Up!

Hello, I got a MTD Yard Machines 21 ton splitter with 5HP Briggs. Yesterday I changed the hydro oil and filter. I went to start it and the rope pulled/motor turned totally normal and it coughed a little but never started. After about 50 pulls all of a sudden the pull rope locks up. It is in...

Clean Husky 455 Rancher $200-20" bar-yes or no?

Should I be too concerned about the chain brake bar not being there? Personally, it doesn't bother me but, one good kickback would probably change my mind on that.

Husky 345 Question-How tight should clutch cover be?

Took cover off again and checked everything out. Made sure nothing was kinked up. Chain moved freely. Put cover back on tight without serious wrenching down on it. Engaged/disengaged chain brake. Fired it up and for now runs perfect. Haven't cut with it yet. I got this Husky 61 that I...

Clean Husky 455 Rancher $200-20" bar-yes or no?

LOL! I offered $150 and it is $200 firm. So, I guess I will just cool it and keep at it with the 345 for now. 13 lbs. vs 11 on a 346 or 353.

Husky 345 Question-How tight should clutch cover be?

"20LP(X) and other non-NK .050 chain can usually be run on them though - but now and then the toleranses are against you, and the wider cutters of the non-NK chain binds between the clutch cover and the saw body." Yep, that sounds like my problem.

Who is still firing up their stove this season?

I hear ya! If it is not dang near 70 inside the house when the wife comes home, she'll turn the furnace on. :msp_angry: I keep telling her if she keeps pulling that then she is going to have to work overtime to pay the electric bill!

Who is still firing up their stove this season?

That is the up side to berm home as on average it stays 10* cooler than the outside during hot days. AC only when it hits 100 on a regular basis or for humidity control which is the down side. Otherwise, ceiling fans keep it nice.

Husky 345 Question-How tight should clutch cover be?

How tight should I tighten clutch cover? Put new chain on yesterday and it ran great for a while but then acted like the chain brake is on. It's not because I could turn it freely by hand after install. I'm thinking I am putting the clutch cover on too tight making the bar too tight? Thanks.

Who is still firing up their stove this season?

I haven't had mine going for a week or so. 65 in the house now and a high of 59 with rain today. I know that might sound like no big deal for some, but earth contact home feels a lot colder. 65 will be the inside temp high for the day if I don't take action. I knew this was coming and planned...

suggestions on wood stove or outdoor furnace/boilers

"I suppose the biggest hold up we have about putting one in the basement is the access. My husband can open the heavy door in our mud room floor, but I can't. This would mean him having to do most the work." Seals, if you put a wood furnace in your basement I think you will regret it because...

    Rep

Just curious as there are very few things I actually pay real attention to. For example: I DO pay attention to where my leg is before I start cutting a log!
