    First load of season

Good stuff, better than money in the bank! I love locust, probably 50% or better of my wood. Fenceposts aren't a big market anymore, so they're nearly considered a weed here. Lots of overgrown pastures that the owners will beg you to clear for them. Used to be they were a source of...

Who's old enough to remeber what the spotted owl did?

Grim and depressing, but also true and clear. Thank you for the post, I'd rep ya several times over if I could... Well-said and needs to be said many more times.

Who's old enough to remeber what the spotted owl did?

Don't forget that it's all paid for by you and me! Maybe the new Decider-In-Chief will get someone with a brain to head up EPA. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Help! Looking for a laser measuring attachment

Yeah, always wanted to build a holz hausen like that. More because it's cool-looking than neat. I'd like to do two of them with a wall in between, make a castle out of firewood.

Help! Looking for a laser measuring attachment

Just found this, is this what you saw? http://www.laserfox.de/text.php?pos=|3&nav_id=3 My german is rusty, but looks like 135 Euros for the kit. Edit: also found a youtube vid, like how they've got it lensed to be a line instead of a dot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4LaCb67-XA...

Help! Looking for a laser measuring attachment

I have one of these, and I love it. Only caveat is that you really need to pick a saw for it and leave it on, if you have to put it on and remove it all the time it's a pain. I cut a lot of tops, so I'll go in and cut all the limbs from 2" up to about 6" or so, and drag them all clear and into a...

    Chain Sharpening In the Field

Well, few meaning more than 10 for sure, never really counted, definitely less than 3 weeks of full-time cutting. I don't do it for a living, the cost of a dozen files or so a year really doesn't bother me. I toss them when they seem to get dull, not after a set number of filings. I use Pferd...

Help! Looking for a laser measuring attachment

Yeah, but the carpenter in me won't allow me to have a firewood pile that looks like the dog's breakfast. Not usually uptight about stuff like that, but I really enjoy a neat-looking stack of firewood.

Help! Looking for a laser measuring attachment

I want one of those markers, but since I cut my firewood at 24", I'd have to buy another wheel, and I'm too cheap to spend 35 bucks on such a thing. I use a 2' stick on a handle and a can of paint. Need something quick when cutting up hardwood limbs, otherwise you end up spending more time...

    Got a new saw.

Yeah, welcome to the cult, I mean club! Mine is just starting to break in and I'm having more fun everytime I go out. I'm cutting almost all under-12" wood now, I've had to find some bigger stuff to challenge the saw a little. Enjoy and be safe.

New Dolmar 5100 dies at idle

Mine came with the carb screwdriver, works perfect. I had to adjust the idle on mine as well. Works great now. If you're not sure, take it to the dealer and get it tuned.

I didn't think they had Husqvarna?

I thought they might all be "homeowner" saws, but the have 395's, 3120's, etc. I just find it funny that their site has a "logging" section where you can buy a 137 husky, you know, for the "big ones". :chainsaw:

    Two years later.......

Most places around here have clearly posted signs about what happens to stuff left there. Usually after 6 months it's up for grabs. One guy has "Any item left over 90 days is subject to sale" printed on the bottom of his slips. Couple registered letters to the owner should satisfy any...

    Pic of your ugly mug

We use the Garands for our Honor Guard at my VFW post, one of the Korea vets told us how they used to keep an empty clip in their pocket, since the enemy knew that when they heard that "ding", you were out of ammo. So our guys would toss an empty clip on the rocks, and pop the enemy when they...

Wish I could use my Garand for hunting! Nice buck, big honkin' trees!

    Returned the 5100, brought home a 359

Hey, as long as you're comfortable with the saw, that's what counts- it's still your money to spend. I am absolutely blown away by the whole availability of parts thing. Maybe the different regional distributors do business differently? My dealer keeps a large stock of parts, plus the dist. can...

    Chain Sharpening In the Field

Here is a link to the chain sharpening forum: http://www.arboristsite.com/forumdisplay.php?f=74 Lots of information here and there about it. Sounds like your file is worn out, I go through a file every few sharpenings, they're cheap, buy them by the dozen and keep a sharp one in your...

I think this is a bit overpriced!

You might not see it, but it's there, in "gr8cond". You just have to L@@K! What a tool. No reserve, but starts bidding at 995. Maybe his wife told him to sell some saws or else. "But honey, look, there were no bids"..

    Husky no can deliver...

Touch a nerve or something? You certainly have an opinion, as I have mine.
