How to Remove Flywheel Bolts for Recoil Spool?

You can fit them without removing the pawl. Just make sure the spring is the right way up then sort of thread it down over the pawl then tension it using needle nose pliers/small screwdriver.

    What causes this?

How long is the warranty in NZ? It is only 6 months old and it won't have a hour counter.

    Stihl fuel filter?

+1 on the foam melting. You end up with the gauze in the carb coated in yellow crud faster than you can keep it cleaned out. It took me a while to work out where it was coming from. We've got the dreaded ethanol here in the UK now and the biodiesel is eating out the seals in my older tractors...

Everyone remember their first post on the Chainsaw forum?

No idea about my first post but you could try asking about someone's first BJ. When the broad grin spreads over their face deflate them by asking what it tasted like!

    Calling all Stihl 056 Guru's!!!!

Has the metering diaphragm got a little button on it? If so the fork on the end of the metering lever has to slide over it rather than just resting against it like most other carbs.

    Best Brushcutter?

Sorry but fs 500/550 are in a different league. Fs 80 is for comparison.

    Stihl 056 magnum magnum

There was a 056 cylinder on ebay a while back that looked a lot like this: That'll take you a few minutes! Dennis Cahoon sent this one to Mastermind for him to mull over.

    Seized up stihl ms290

You ruined your science by using velocity. Velocity is a vector quantity i.e. speed with a direction. As you haven't specified an angular component you are talking about speed. Even then what "speed at the seams" means is beyond me. As for the rest of the argument my experience is that clogged...

Changing the weigh of the flywheel?

I think it's about time we discussed whether you need to run a different oil ratio if you alter the weight of the flywheel :givebeer:

Changing the weigh of the flywheel?

In most things I bow to the Masters superior knowledge but in this case a saw with a heavier flywheel will only hold a higher rpm for the fraction of a second that it takes to use up the extra stored energy. After that both saws will be equal. However in all other respects you are invariably...

    Trimmers

Over on this side of the pond they are strimmers or brushcutters for the larger ones. Top trumps so far with a FS 500 (51.7cc) but I just know someone is going to come along with a 550 or a Husky 555. Stihl FS 80 for comparison: Some have commented that the FS250 drinks fuel but the FS500...

    Yet Another Chainsaw Dyno

I had a '82 490 but sold it about 10yrs back to buy a modern bike. Still kicking myself now. A 495 KTM was one of the few bikes the Maico wouldn't outrun to the first corner but was a lot easier to ride for the rest of the race. As Dirt Bike said back in the day "the 495 has more power than...
