    Menard's chainsaw

In my newest Menards flier they have a 46cc, 4 cycle chain saw at an after rebate price of $99.99. No mixing gas and oil. How would that work? Have to have an oil sump but be able to run horizontal, vertical or on either side. Who's going to be first to try one out?

    Jonsered saw mill

Has anyone ever heard of one of these? It's a model 600 Sagverk, made in 1998 in Sweden. It is on an internet auction near me. Looks kind of like a Log-o-sol with metal tracks. I'm high bid right now.

    Found a used Super Split

I picked up a used Super Split yesterday with electric motor. It was listed on Craig's List for about 10 days before I called and I couldn't believe it was still available. Previous owner said he used it for only a year but he has a commercial firewood business and has purchased a processor. His...

    I found a mill.

I was on my way to town for an appointment this morning and happened to see a bandsaw mill sitting in a farmer's yard with a "for sale" sign on it. I made an abrupt U-turn to get a look-see. I gave it a once over, called the number on the sign and the owner showed up 5 minutes later. We agreed...

Chinese 394 XP coil any good?

Are the cheap Chinese coils any good? They cost about $8 as opposed to OEM at $88. I'm tempted to try one. Any one have any experience with them?

Why 394 won't start when hot

I bought a used 394 last year, built in 1999, ser.# 9050035. I was milling a 26"x13' ash log. I made the first cut in about 15 minutes (is this good or bad?), set the saw down and refueled. Adjusted the Alaskan for a 2" cut and the saw would not start. This has happened before when bucking...

Has any one tried this new splitting tool?

Bailey's has a Wilton BASH splitting maul in 6 or 8 pound with a rubber coated steel shank. It looks good, kind of like a Fiskars but is 2-4 pounds heavier. Priced at $49.95. It doesn't say anything about any guaranty on the handle so who is going to be the first guinea pig to try one?

Picked up new Rapid Fire today

My new DR Rapid Fire finally came in today after ordering it 3 weeks ago from the local (25 miles away) dealer. It was all assembled and setting in their yard ready to go. After making final payments we pulled it on my trailer and I looked it over. I noticed the drive belt was twisted and laying...

    Menard's $99 saw

In my new Menard's sale flyer they have a Hitachi 32cc, 16" saw with a 7 year consumer warranty.Listed at half off for only $99. It is probably a piece of crap saw but I am tempted to give it a try for a limbing saw. It might work well with my 70 and 86 cc Jonsereds! What do you all think?

    Fiskars out of stock.

I just got an email from Amazon.com that my order for the 36" super split maul has been cancelled. They are out of stock and don't know when they will be resupplied. This is after a two week wait for an order through Tru-Value only to receive a 28" because of their mistake at the main...

    Stihl MS-361C recall notice

I have been informed through the Wis. DNR web site that the Stihl MS-361C-Q has been recalled because of a sticking throttle problem. All saws should be returned to your dealer for repair. It is illeagal to sell a recalled saw unless it has been fixed. Remember: don't kill the messenger!

    I weighed a load yesterday.

I have been cutting hard maple tops that were logged in October and was curious as to how much weight I was actually hauling. I have a 2000 Dodge heavy 3/4 ton with a Boss vee plow. I have side racks that are almost as high as the cab and I heap the load higher than the cab and stack the back...

Did I get a good buy?

I answered an ad on our local internet bulletin board for a Wood-Mizer saw mill for sale. The guy wanted $500 for it! He said it was run about 2 years ago.So I had to go look. Well, the Kohler engine was seized, all the roller chain was rusted solid and all the wiring was brittle and corroded. I...
