Timing advance and muffler mod the 192? 201 is a great saw, but as I get older I appreciate lighter saws. I recently bought a ported echo 2511T, and the 201 hasn't gotten picked up since.
Are both your 661 and 500i stock? Since getting my 500i, I havent touched my MS441 or 044 or 260. The other saw I do use a ton is my 201t, mainly because when I am having a burn pile going its easy to trim larger branches down to size with 1 hand so I can hold the branch and throw it into the...
This one fell last winter on our road. Had to cut it out to get back onto my property...
This one fell last month... Was across a power line, was trapped in the house (which is fine) have a wood stove and propane + a generator, but had a newborn (3 weeks old) and no cell or other phone...
Ya, when bucking logs, they can me a bit cumbersome (specially in hardwoods like oak), but in the super thick barked pines they are worth the price of admission.
Last new saw I bought was my MS441C MTronic 10+ years ago. Was getting ready to pickup a MS661 when I hopped on the forums and starting reading about the magical 500i. Talked to a few of the local fallers and tree service guys and they all raved about them. Decided to give one a try, scoured...
Took the saw out, was running Stihl 63PS chain. This thing rips after the timing advance, muffler mod and getting it tuned in wood. Very impressed with how this littel saw cuts. Was running through 6-8" cedar and oak, and I could really lean on it and it was still throwin chips!
I have a rear handle 192 I got for my wife. Guy at the local saw shop said he calls it the widow saw, all the older women who still burn wood own them because they are super reliable and they can still cut their own firewood. I personally know a older rancher that was running one in her late...
Got the plastics in, and my bar and chains came in, so I can put my wife's saw back together. Sugi feels close to the same weight as the factory Stihl bar (going off holding one in each hand). I have one of their 32" bars on my big saw and that bar has taken a beating and keeps going, so I am...
I think it probably was, or a backup. I checked the serial number on it and it was one of the early 201T's. Purchase price, and all parts, I will be into it for a total of $450, new ones right now (if you can find them) are going for about $800 here in the US. I did a compression test on it...
My Stihl MS441CM and my Stihl MS260 Pro have been absolutely bullet proof. In the 10+ years I have had them all ive done is cleaned the air filter and changed the spark plug.
I hate you all, after reading through pages and pages I decided I needed a 500i. After scouring the internet for a couple weeks I finally found one.... Cant wait for the brown truck to show up with it.
