Moved from Stihl to Echo 7310, so far, so good

Here is an Echo 7310 that is holding its revs pretty good. Im glad to see that Echo is building something that can be worked on. 9hp on Joe's Dyno is something special.

Help me identify this old Oregon bar... please 🥺

3/8 2450 24inch 50 gauge in 3/8 chain. Oregon made some Universal Fit bars, and this could be one of them. Means it works on any model that can oil it. Otherwise, looks like an old Homelite to me.

New Echo 3510 carb tune issue

Which carb? WT-1239? Some of the small echo saw's have the Walbro 589 style accel pump like used on the reed valve 302/305/306/341 and related. I have seen that accelerator pump called a starting system in some of the books. After you pump the purge bulb a couple times, pump the throttle...

What Splined Carb adjustment tool fits WALBRO?

The walbro carbs have 5mm splines on the newer ones. The older carbs were 4mm. There is a pac man that is supposed to work on the larger screws. Your best bet is to slot the jets with a small cut off wheel if you want a fully adjustable carb.

Super xl... rebuilt carb... runs like new for 5 min or so of cutting, then dies at WOT...

Check the gaskets to diaphragm order in the carb. Sounds like its starving for fuel. On the pump side (single screw) the diaphragm goes down first, followed by the gasket and then the cover. On the metering side (4 screws) the gasket goes down first, then the diaphragm and then the cover...

Older Walbro carb parts, HDC51, Husky 44, 1979

You can try to grind the nub down, but if you use a dremel and slip off it usually puts a hole in the diaphragm. I used a file and folded the diaphragm material over and got one to work in an HDC carb. For the parts, you should be able to get the Walbro kit or which ever parts you need for the...

Echo CS 8000 Backfires Through Carb

There were two different coils and two different flywheels used on the 8000. They dont mix and match. The early system uses 3 magnets on one side of the flywheel. The later system uses 2. The early coil has a JEL stamp and the later is Oppama. Another indicator on the later coil is the...

    Poulan 4000 Carb

Take Mark's advice and get the OEM Walbro kit. If your not familiar, dont take the carb apart until you get the kit. The reason is you have to match up the different gaskets to what your carb uses. Not all gaskets in the kit will be used.

    450 Rancher prime issue

Things like this always make me wonder where that stuff that plugged the inlet screen came from? It wasnt in the gas. I was working on a pair of Husky blowers and because of the cost, used aftermarket carbs. In the one carb, where the brass fuel inlet brings the fuel into the carb, there...

    034 bearing problem?

That bearing has moved too far out of the race to accept the seal. Have you inspected the cylinder? Chances are its been drawing air there for some time. If the cylinder is good you should be able to salvage it. Rings, bearings and seals. Loctite 660 is the retaining compound we use for...

    Chinese carbs... my experience

You have to watch. The last couple I bought were for a pair of small Husky blowers. It was cheaper to buy a whole new China Carb rather than to buy a zama branded rebuild kit......or was it? On the first carb, the fuel inlet pipe had paper down inside of it which I didnt catch. You may...

    Stihl MS362 Carb Issue

Could you have an air leak, which means outside air is getting in somewhere allowing the engine to rev? It could be a blown out seal or a crack in the intake boot. Only other thing I thought of was if you were in there twisting the screws, could you have raised the idle speed up that far? How...

    Caber rings for 3400 Poulan

Poulan experimented with plating pistons rather than plating cylinders in the late 70's when these engines were designed and made. If you look closely at your cylinder, you will notice that it is not chrome plated. Another reference is Mike Acres site, which shows the model 3400 with a chrome...

    What is salvageable?

On the cylinder, as long as the plating is good above the exhaust port then you can re-use it. The best thing to remove aluminum from the bore is muratic acid. You can buy a small bottle at the hardware store for cleaning brick. Buy a new piston and go back to work.
