    Locktite Threadlocker question...

I've seen some take a punch and hammer and add some "dimples" to the surface of the bolt where it goes through the case. Helps bite in and set.

    Some "co-ordinated" 3 saw plans

For some reason, I really like the looks of that 1989 50 Special Spike. It must be that orange brake handle. I'm a sucker for 80's retro!

    Decal pic sharing thread

Some could care less if their saw has the factory decals/stickers on it or not and that is fine. But, I think many of us like to keep things as factory fresh as possible. Call it just one of many symptoms of CAD. Many decals are NLA so the best option is to get some made up by a business or...

    272 cylinder help

other questions... My piston has two rings w/ windows...should I look for a one ring piston for this build? This saw will be ported. What are the pros/cons of one vs two rings? Also, the cylinder is marked "A" on top and the piston "AB" Is this an issue? What should the tolerances be?

Thanks for the help. This looks like good news. The W? marking must have something to do w/ the decomp.

    272 cylinder help

It appears at one point the PN's were the same...but they have changed and are now different. Can someone with a confirmed Mahle 272xp cylinder look at the markings on the bottom? My cylinder from a 272k (506260172) has: MAHLE 52ZN22W5 I'm thinking Husqvarna at some point created seperate...

    272 cylinder help

Thanks... I've read that thread and it's still not clear. Maybe the part numbers were the same at one point and then were changed. Still does not answer the question if the cylinder and piston themselves are the same. FWIW i've compared the other markings on the Mahle xp cylinder to the k...

    272 cylinder help

I need to know what are the differences (if any) between the chainsaw (272xp) cylinders and the stump grinder (272s) and the cutoff saw (272k). They have different part numbers but I’ve heard varying stories if they are the same or not. I have searched and asked several different people with no...

    Short bar - Heavy chain

You need a .404 tip (unless it's a hard nose bar) and a .404 drive sprocket/rim and make sure the gauge is the same.

Ultrasonic Cleaners - What do you use?

I got lucky. I have a dentist in the family and he gave me his old cleaner. Never hurts to ask. Ultrasonic cleaners are great by the way.

    268 xp / special

This is a good thread about the sometimes mysterious 268’s http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/100071.htm Just wanted to add some info on this family of saws. I picked up this 268special not long ago and assumed it had the open transfer cylinder and kind of put it on the back burner...
