Don't burn pine , pine burning thread .

My shoulder season wood is black cherry and elm. Yes. I am spoiled and I will readily admit it.

My woodshed build... about a year in the making

Ok, so I re-did everything. I hope it all works for everyone now. Let me know if it doesn't. Here are some up to date pictures. This side is going to have a window, and possibly a door to open during the summer, purely for venting/airflow. This is looking in from the garage: Working...

My woodshed build... about a year in the making

Well I'm sorry about that fellas. I linked from Google Photos, and they're letting me down. I'll try uploading them to a different service and relinking them...

My woodshed build... about a year in the making

I found one more of the raising. That's me on the right, my father on the left. And my sister wondering who will be first to have a bent land on them. Fortunately no fatalities, as of yet.

My woodshed build... about a year in the making

This is the first bent in place. I didn't have a raising party, but I had a tractor with a loader, so I used it as a crane. And here's the rest of the frame up and pegged. One ridge beam, two plates, four beams, six posts, twelve knee braces, thirty two rived pegs and a partridge in a pear...

My woodshed build... about a year in the making

Hey all, been a while since I've posted anything here, but I'm still cutting, splitting, stacking, hauling, and burning. I'm finally wrapping up my woodshed project, working on and off for about a year, in between the ongoing reno/resto of the meandering family farmhouse, which will probably...

    Northeastern state Blizzard

I've had my share of uncomfortable days on the Freezer. Long live the Jet.

Sadly, I said those exact words just this morning. Twice. My coworkers give me a wide berth... :)

Would anyone think less of me if I said I threw my touring skis, boots, skins, down jacket and shell pants in the car this morning? Also have my low temp over mitts, extra food, extra water. Never hurts to be prepared right? Research campus is closing @ noon.

At least it's going to be high ratio (dry) snow. Lots of cold air. 30" of wet stuff would be far worse. Yeah, it'll drift more, but still much less damaging and much easier to move, even after drifting turs it into wind slab.

Snowing here in Chepachet, RI. First bands of the southern low coming in. The two systems are start to phase together pretty well already... I think the reliance on numerical weather models these days may result in some of that overhyping. Recently, the European model has done very well at...

Also, these are set to go for some post storm exploring... We'll see what creative routes I can think up this time. Some of my neighbors are now used to seeing me on the snowbanks, traversing their driveways, occasionally their yards. Good thing they all know me :p

A man after my own heart. :D And I mean that in a totally non creeppy, 100% platonic way... ahem. 14 bombers of homebrew left, cars in the new geeerage and the tractor has plenty of fuel. 1/3 cord of good white oak, red oak and hard maple mix in the shed. Ken Follett and James Michner...

Dad is happy, Mom isn't thou.

My dad is 63, and if it weren't for his wrist he could out split me, at 30. Even with his 'bad' wrist he can almost out split me. His aim is much better than mine too :) My mom is happy with it, cause she likes being warm, she likes my dad to be happy, but most of all I think she likes him...

    go me some oak

I didn't see many noodles either, but I saw maul and wedges. Some of us cavemen still prefer whacking stuff with rocks on a stick :) Looks like he half ripped, and finished with a maul. To the OP, nice score. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous...
