Stihl 028 Carb and another problem

Hey guys, I picked up an used 028 a little while ago and ended up replacing a few things, the fuel line, fuel filter, spark plug, bar and chain. I could get it running for about 10 seconds and it would die. So then I gave the carb a complete rebuild, replacing the washers, screen, diaphragm and...

    Stihl 028 help needed

I picked up an used 028 for $150 or so, I made the mistake of not testing it out before handing over the cash, turns out there is a leak in the gas tank/ handle assembly. The saw is pretty dirty so I figured I'd take it apart and clean it up and JB weld the gas tank assembly for a quick fix, or...

    Free Cottonwood

I was talking to my buddy the other day and he mentioned that he needed to get rid of a bunch of cottonwood trees that had recently been cut down. Some of them range around 24" diameter, nothing is bucked yet. I know cotton wood doesnt do well for firewood and I recently bought my first home...

    Problems with my 2100 Starter

Hey guys, I was curious if you could help me identify all of the problems with this starter. I was having a hard time finding an image detailed enough to show what it was supposed to look like. Hey, I am wondering how you guys price your lumber? I can understand it is going to vary from what type of wood you are selling but where do you start? How do you get a general price of lumber? I am trying to figure out a few numbers to see if I can benefit from buying a band saw mill. I was...

What to do with the IRS return?

Buy a new chainsaw of course. Well I have never had my hands on a Stihl before and I am anxious to. Don't get me wrong, I love husqvarna's, especially my 2100 CD. Such a beast. Since I don't know much about Stihl saws, I know you guys know whats up and what models would suit my needs...

    CSM oil and water

I've noticed that some people using chainsaw mills have an additional bar tip oiler and some have a water feed. I am curious what the advantages of both are? My 2100 seems to guzzle bar oil and stay lubed pretty well while milling. I have been thinking about the grandberg bar tip oiler...

Cut down first large tree today

The other day I posted up a thread asking why my chain kept falling off while trying to cut down a larger cottonwood. Today I sharpened up the chain and gave it another try. This time it cut much better and did not throw. The tree was nearly cut through when I took the saw out and pounded once...

Why does the chain keep getting loose?

I run both a husky 359 XP and a 2100 CD. Every time I put a chain on and tighten it real good so it has almost no slack at all then start to cut something, the chain on both saws immediately get really slack. I don't understand it. I am trying to cut down a large cottonwood right now and...

    Sawdust?

I've been milling lots of NW red cedar and have a huge pile of sawdust building up. A lot of it has gone into my compost but I am left with a lot more. I am curious what you millers choose to do with your sawdust. Wondering what your creative ways of usage may be. P.S. Will cedar sawdust...

Please help me identify this tree

I was walking in the woods the other day looking for deadfall and came across this long straight tree. There was so much brush and other foliage around it I could not see any leaves from this tree. It is possible to identify the tree type by the bark? Anybody know what it might be?

    Fungus Pictures

I am sure most of you who wander in the woods looking at tree's notice that several fungi grow mostly on deadfall. In the area I reside we have mainly Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Birch, Maple and some other evergreens. A couple of days ago I cut down a dead birch tree that was covered in these...

Woah! This is a very stupid competition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JZghey6sFQ Seriously? I can't believe these people allow for such an unsafe competition. "Hey guys, lets make them run on a skinny log with no protection and a running chainsaw without the chain locked." ??? Really?
