    Attention Poulan 330 owners

Old thread… What model carb are you using for a replacement for the 330 and is it a direct bolt-on or are mods required? Are these replacement carbs still available? Does this carb replacement render this saw a good trouble free firewood saw? Got a couple 330’s I’d like to keep going. Thanks!

Echo CS 501P vs Stihl MS 260

I have an old Stihl MS 260 with a 16 inch bar and am considering an Echo CS 501P with 16” bar. Both are 50cc saws, both have decompression for startup. I’ve had great luck with both Stihl and Echo in Chainsaws and string trimmers. Stihl MS 260 is no longer available, I think I bought one of...

    Popular 375 Question

My son was given a Poulan 375 chainsaw - not a problem. However, it does not have an anti-kickback lever brake built onto the chain cover like later model saws do - so from a safety concern, I'm concerned. Question is - is there another model Poulan that is newer that would have a cover with...

TSC 22 Ton Log Splitter Engine Change - Briggs to Kohler

I thought I'd make a FYI post regarding the change in TSC's 22 ton log splitter engine from a Briggs & Stratton to a Kohler. Some background: I had a 22 ton TSC log splitter with the vertical shaft Briggs engine and it was GREAT! I traded it for a garden tractor with a front end loader...

Smoking Deal on Husky 460 ???

I saw Tractor Supply had the Husky 460 chainsaw $100 of at $369 with 24 inch bar. I think in my neck of the woods, the sale went off yesterday. I guess they are clearing the orange saws for the J-red's? Looked like a good deal to me. What do you think? Thanks! Bill

    McCulloch 10-10 Bar Mount Question

Can anyone tell me what type bar mount was used for a McCulloch 10-10 chainsaw? Is there any difference between a bar mount on a 10-10 and a 10-10A Looking at putting an 18 inch bar on this saw. Any recommendations would be appreciated too. Thanks for everyone's help. Bill

    Yard sale score

Nice score! My brother had a Super-EZ and that was one nice looking/handling saw (at least I thought so in my teens). He cut a lot of brush with that saw and it would get hot and vacuum lock and not restart. He finally got rid of the saw, but I always thought it was a decent saw. Good...

    Harbor Freight chain sharpener

I bought one of these last year and it does a pretty good job - for me. My routine is to hand sharpen with a file, but somehow my chains visit a rock from time to time and the HF sharpener is a quick way to grind the chain back into shape. One thing you can't do is rough handle it - there is a...

    Poulan PP330 Bar Question

Is that bar a direct bolt-on or does it have to be modified?

    Poulan PP330 Bar Question

That is one stubby bar - LOL!!!

    Poulan PP330 Bar Question

Mark, Thanks for the reply. I just want to see how my stock bar stacks up to other offerings. It is a very flat bar top to bottom, not much if any arch, and maybe there shouldn't be, so I didn't know if this was a bar made to compliment a safety chain or a "normal" (if there is such a...

    Poulan PP330 Bar Question

I've got a Poulan PP330 with a 16 inch bar in it, but also have the 22 inch bar that came with it. Every now and then I need a longer bar for felling or bucking a tree (firewood) and am thinking about putting this 22 inch bar to work - or replacing it with something else. I know the stock...

    Husky 445 vs Poulan 4620

Thanks again everyone! I passed on buying one of these 445's, but my Brother bought one! Nice saw. Bill

Bar Lugs - One vs Two

I posted earlier about a Husky 445 I was considering and noticed it only has one bar lug/nut. I guess there may be 2 lugs, but only one nut holding the cover on and the bar/chain in place. I think I've seen this set-up on a smaller Dolmar saw too. Is this something to avoid or not something...

    Husky 445 vs Poulan 4620

Thanks again for everyone's replies!!!! Couple of questions. I gather the 445 is a "strato charged" saw. What does that mean? Also, does the 445 have a catalyist in the exhaust? Thanks! Bill

    Husky 445 vs Poulan 4620

Thanks everyone for the replies. The 445 would be an addition to the fleet - not getting rid of the 4620, it has been a good saw.

    Husky 445 vs Poulan 4620

Which is the better saw? Both are box store saws. The saw would be for light firewood cutting. I've got a 4620, but an considering the 445 as TSC has them on sale. Same displacement - hopefully the 445 isn't a 4620 in orange clothes. Thanks! Bill

    Stump Cutting - Chain Recommendation

I've got a couple of stumps in a yard that need to be cut flush with the ground so a lawn mower won't hit it when mowing this Summer. Anytime I've ever cut a stump flush with the ground, there is a fair amount of dirt that get's caught-up in the cut and for whatever reason - sometimes I think...

    Englander Stove Works

I've got two woodstoves in my house. The first one is a Woodstock soapstone stove and it is a great stove - terrific customer support, also an expensive stove. The second is and Englander 30-NCH in my basement. It is a heating beast! The stove is a very clean burning stove and easy to...
