    3/16 vs 5/32 file

The file size recommendations are right there on the chain box. You will have to develop your sharpening style to what you cut. Green wood cuts easier than dry hard wood, therefore with green wood you can add a little more hook and still have a fast cutting long wearing chain. Softer woods can...

    Disposing of cut wood?

I use my cut-off saw down to about an inch. (Hey, that's firewood too) Chip into the compost pile and burn the rest. Mike

    difference in bar/chain oil??!!

That Poulan in the green jug was the best I've ever used! Can't find it with a bloodhound and search warrant around here any more!!! Mike

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

So much for "they are going too slow"!!! Wonder how far the semi got while the impatient driver was waiting on the police and the wrecker??? LOL Mike

lowes has quart cans of 4 cycle true fuel for $1.72

I bought 11 gallons of the 40:1 and 20 cans of the reg. I keep 2 cans in my truck because the gas gauge doesn't work. Mike

    1 saw plan???

How far down do you cut? I cut anything down to an inch in firewood and would NOT like to do that much limbing with a 50cc saw. (Too many miles on my shoulders and elbows for that crap) I would much prefer to be slower in the big stuff and work with a strong 40-50cc saw. Mike

Edison Motors announces their pickup truck kit

It will depend entirely on how popular they get! If just a few take advantage of the conversion, then probably not. But let it catch on and be popular and the governazi's will absolutely be screwing around trying to get their greedy ass hands into it some way!!! Mike

Thoughts on Makita DCS34 (Dolmar PS-34)

I highly recommend the 401! My go to limbing saw for years. Mike

What is your favorite non-saw tool brand?

Another solid vote for RIDGID!!! The lifetime battery guarantee makes this a no brainer for me! The tools are also second to none from what I have found. Mike

    Sharpening, necessary or just picky?

Your "teeth" do NOT need to be equalized! Unless there is a huge variation in a great number of right hand or left hand cutters, you won't notice a huge difference. Each cutter is an individual cutting device and as long as it is performing to its potential that is all you need. I relate it this...

Critters in the wood your splitting

I let them hibernate in the wood in a separate pile that I take directly in when it get super cold and toss in the stove ants and all, before it has a chance to warm them up! The fire takes care of them as the wood burns. While I smile and say something like "How about that now you little...

    Echos in the woods

No, my phone is just a phone. Haven't crossed over to all that new crap! Mike

    Echos in the woods

I believe you meant "wear your medals..." instead of "metals" but I could be mistaken. Please enlighten. Mike

I see Klotz is still around...

I've used R-50 for over a decade in my saws and weed trimmers at 36:1 and have NEVER had any issues at all. No reason to change now. Mike

16 yo kid inside a mill

You are making my point for me! We used to have extensive driver's education classes in high school, and we USED to have parents, police and judges that would enforce the traffic laws to keep motorists and pedestrians safe. I still believe that if one wants to show concern for the teenagers that...

16 yo kid inside a mill

Just doing my part to try and educate! You continue to complicate the issue with irrelevant facts. How many people died in sawmill accidents? How many people died as a result of a teenage driver? Where should our tax dollars be spent to the maximum effect? Mike

16 yo kid inside a mill

Living has an expectation of death! And your comparisons are fundamentally flawed. I'm sure someone raised in a bubble from birth and suddenly set free on the sidewalk could have a reasonable expectation of death just as someone who never climbed a mountain and started to the summit of Everest...

16 yo kid inside a mill

Well since my statement has caused a bit of a stuffstorm, I'll explain EXACTLY what I meant by it so there will be no further confusion. My point was (and still is) that the damned GOVERNMENT will take the time and spend the money to regulate the lumber industry and the what, 2500 kids...
