a warning to eastonmade box wedge users.

My thought was simply to place a tether from the back of the box wedge to the removable slide??? I would think either a steel cable or a nylon strap of some sort would work just fine allowing ample room for the pullback arm to float up and down within reason but also keep it from flying up past...

a warning to eastonmade box wedge users.

According to Andrew from Eastonmade wearing a peltor or stihl style chainsaw helmet will protect you if struck in the head by the pullback arm. I'd love to see him prove that.

a warning to eastonmade box wedge users.

For any that haven't seen this video the last 20 seconds or so shows how you can get hurt when using the pullback arm on an eastonmade log splitter. Somebody who was helping me about a month and a half ago was struck by the pullback arm resulting in a broken arm that required surgery to heal...

    whadja do today?

Got The Animal set up stacking 6 cords of firewood for a guy this morning, then put a cable in this one pear that's been a real PITA, cut some wood and came home. Going back to split tomorrow, hopefully we get it all done, and get some kind of plan together for this coming week. They are...

Which would you rather have for a big saw?

Not to hi-jack a thread, but I have a 47" bar that I'd sell if you needed one.

Which would you rather have for a big saw?

I'd suggest keeping the more reliable saw, whatever that may be. Sadly, how much are you really going to get for a used saw?

Just that they can all be money pits.

My chipper has under 900 hrs on it, and last winter I put 6K into repairs on the thing.

    RRRRRetard!

I appologize if the language I used was offensive to anyone on here. The term that I would have preferred to use probably would have been bleeped out as being far more profane in nature. I had a bad day today, and will have to pay for my mistakes. The job will not be profitable, but that is...

    RRRRRetard!

New Year's Day one of my friends calls me up. Apparently somebody had been doing tree work down the road from her house, and was kind enough to wipe out power to about 40 homes in her neighborhood. This was around 12:30 PM. I took a ride up there around 4:00 to check out the carnage. They...

    whadja do today?

Tried out a new kid today, he worked out pretty well. The job was supposed to be removing about 4 broken branches from this one large sugar maple near a house, but that wound up taking almost half the day. Get up there, next thing I know there's dead wood all over the place, busted pieces left...

    whadja do today?

Drove to Maine and back today to pick up a gassifier for my friend. Almost 700 miles round trip. Tried to get lobsters on the return trip, but had no luck.

    anyone spreading mulch?

I spread chips at dump sites for free (sometimes), otherwise not interested. Been farming out the mulch for one lady for 3 of the last 4 years I've worked for her. She takes about 50 yards of chips which the gardener spreads, and then 22 yards (+/-) of hemlock mulch. The one time I did it...

    whadja do today?

Pretty much just got the roof off my Dodge truck. Gonna head up to Maine on Tuesday with a friend to pick up some type of gizmo for his house. Plan is to stop on the way back and grab about 40 lobsters. Should be an interesting road trip day.

What saws do you use for general ground work?

In the past I've left the groundies with a 260 / 290 / 200. The 290 was ok, but heavy for what it was, the 260 was unreliable and slightly lacking in power, and the 200 they were just flat out killing. Bought a 362 that is only for on the ground chipper use, and they like it a lot. Goes right...

    whadja do today?

Looked at 3 jobs this morning, with a 4th in the afternoon, got at least 2 of them. Nothing fancy, but I'll take the work... dismantle a sugar maple for a friend's brother, hazard prune a couple of bigger sugar maples, remove a butternut, and lastly some preservation err keeping death at bay...

    whadja do today?

Started a job with a GREEN groundie today.... DF's brother as a matter of fact. Got the bulk of it out of the way, and will go back tomorrow to finish with a friend's bucket, that is of course if he can actually get set up in this hell hole of a driveway. They said I couldn't start until after...

    whadja do today?

Was supposed to go hit a pruning / removal job this morning, but it was raining and I figured by the time everything dried out it would be too late to start. Gonna go on Wednesday instead, get an extra man on the ground. Met with a friend at one place, he put in a couple of trees for my...

    whadja do today?

Nothing great this weekend; helped a client to pick up a playset for his kids yesterday, and got a few calls coming in for work. Got an e-mail with pictures of the jap maples that the lady wants planted, they look like hell.

    whadja do today?

Got some money in today, met with 1 client. One lady I work for sent me an e-mail yesterday; she is having 2 trees sent up from NYC, she wants them planted anywhere on the property. Her daughter would also be up (model) and would pay me. Get to the house today, no trees, daughter knows...
