    article of pride!!

Tom's right Teach the children well, else they will end up imitating the TV show. Everyone that knows better, knows the show is full of bad acts. Tom's speaking out against it is what everyone who knows better should do. Stand up and be counted, don't sit back and do nothing. The bad is, so...

    Winch/hoist for flatbed?

small truck stuff I just bought a 3/4 ton Dodge and it comes with a dump insert from www.bri-mar.com I don't know that they make winch kits but they might be able to tell you who does. It's a two yard kit but you can load 7-8 yards on it with the sides on. It makes hauling chips from small...

    $200 Job + HOMEOWNER = $8,500 JOB!!!

100 yards Probably not enough. Just about the time you get used to the car WHAM! airbags go off and we go car shopping. I talked her into keeping the rental two more weeks while we look some more. I can't believe we lost all those cars, our ins covered them but I'll bet those other guys are...

    $200 Job + HOMEOWNER = $8,500 JOB!!!

ins/problems? I don't know. I thought they sold stupid ins. After the wife lost three cars last year to people on thier cell phones. They say they didn't even see her car or the other cars stopped at the red lights. They were on the phone and over the speed limit when they hit her. We'll be out...

    $200 Job + HOMEOWNER = $8,500 JOB!!!

homowners ins/trees The homeowners ins usually says, "no" two or three times before they say, "yes". I'd send in a written request and ask for a written responce as to why they turned it down. Then ask again if they'll cover it. It doesn't hurt to ask, though it would have been better to ask...

look up? If you haven't had the experience yet the first time a limb comes out to tap you on the head you'll know the reason to look up. It's the widow maker you are looking for as you cut. Any small movement at the cut is amplfied as it travels up the tree and becomes a big move at the top...

    Husky 353 or 346XP?

346xp/xpg Then there would be some of us that own more than one or two, I bought 12 of the 346s all modded and 4 with heated handles. I can tell you this, they will leave the 353 in the dust. The heated handles will save you from having numb fingers in the winter.

Please Help a rookie With Pricing

Am I wrong? Thinking you can do this yourself? Even a good tree service would think twice on these trees because of their size, location and condition to the trees. It's not an easy one. Open the yellow pages and get three tree companies to come bid on them. That's what the homeowner should do...

    What tree to plant??

oak or walnut? If they try to grow them in a pot, crack the walnut first to let moisture get to the seed otherwise it may not start. I put them in a vise and tighten up on them till I hear it crack then back off and plant it.

A Good Reason to use a rope

read the bark When you have real knarly bark it tells you there is something happening in the tree to cause it to do that. In time, after you do a lot of trees you'll be able to read the bark and know what the tree is hiding under the bark. Damage to the tree causes the bark to grow strange...

    stump grinder vs brush chipper

burn vs chipper Burning robs all the fungi and bugs of a food source. Some of the animals would miss the gym and house they use the pile for but weigh that against the money you make/save on clean up or selling chips/mulch. No trips to the dump if the HO wants to mulch the trees and flowers...

Atlanta Tree Man Fired for Doing his Job

good deeds vs progress No good deed goes unpunished! Try as we do to save trees, we are never going to save them all from the move of farms (rural) to towns (mcmasions & golf course living). Trees take a hit. You are not likely to see that group cleaning gutters or raking leaves. Trees take...

    Benefits of angled pruning cut?

angle cut The angle cut also helps when feeding the smaller chippers. It sounds as if you are not thinking this through, the angle cut is/has different uses/purposes. It is not, nor does it have to be the finish cut you leave. You may make it to avoid rips and tears or stripping the bark on a...
