    Ascenders???

SRT can make the ascent easy(for that I use a CMI Expedition with footloop a Croll and a Pantin) but if the climbs are less than 50 feet I'm not sure thta SRT justifies the set-up and switchover time. Just adding a Pantin REALLY makes DdRT ascent a LOT easier than bodythrusting.

    Poulan pro 330?

I have not seen a green PP330. The 330 was a great saw for the $$. When I finally wear mine out I'll replace it with a Dolmar 5100 or Husky 346- which are lighter and smaller but the 330 is quite an amazing performer and longevity on the 2 I bought has been excellent.

    Which helmet?

Most of the saw brand helmet systems are simply rebadged Peltors. I like the Peltor systems-my only complaint is that they change up the mounting base every year and make retrofitting parts a pain in the keester. Peltor or Viking sytems are good. Tasco not so much. The cheapest place to get a...

    Homelite Super EZ automatic question

I run 32/1 in everything but everyone should be aware that the changes in recommended oil ratios are about the oils not so much the internals of the engines. If you ran 50/1 mix in your old saws oil related failure would still be unlikely. I know this is a radical concept but have any of you...

    Echo Top Handle Opinions?

The CS 300, 3000 and CS 340, 341, 3400 were/are very good little saws. I have no experience with the 330T and 360T.

Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

Gary, Dexron/Mercon IS better tranny fluid but the two types differ in pH. Type F will work best with the Yak Urine.

Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

I suggest that Hunky try a mixture of 21% White Lightning chainlube, 12% 90wt Gear lube, 60% Varsol, 3% Type F Transmission fluid and 4% Female Yak Urine and turn the oiler to minimum output.

Is "Bar-Oil" made for *Suckers* ??

This topic bites. Andy, You did err.... Vegetable oil doesn't get hard as a rock-It gets gummy and sticky as a fruit roll-up.

Is this clip wrong for my saddle?

CanyonAngler. You have it figured out. I own some of those non-locking snaps. Current ANSI Z133 standards specify true locking (multiple actions required to open) attachment hardware but tons of "Locking snaps" were sold years ago that simply had an automatic closure feature. On the Saddle D's...

    anyone using a solo 637??

I own a 637 and like it very much. The torque and speed are good....but it doesn't scream like a 200T. A whole lot of performance per pound and per dollar spent.

    Asplundh Whisper engine cover/radiator?

I'm inclined to think that building a cover form scratch might be the easiest route. A bit of sheet metal, a little rabbit wire ,a few cuts and bends and you are ready for paint.

    More cheap tricks - DIY

For even more fun throw in a half cup of quicklime then quickly had a half a tank of water and cap tightly. Stand well back 'cause you never know if the cap will yield or the tank will simply blow apart. Seriously the vinegar tip is a good one. I am surpised sometimes at how many good...

    stihl MS200 vs Husqvarna 338xpt

I have been very pleased with the performance of the Solo 637. The MS200T is extremely popular for cause but it isn't the only viable choice. People whom I trust like the Husqvarna 338. The little Echos are not as high in performance but can be very reliable and handle quite well.

    PS6800 versus 036/360 versus 044/440

I own a 120si-which apparently is the same thing as a 6800 and can say uneqivocally that it is the fastest cutting saw I have ever used and will absolutely run rings around any of the 11 044s I've run and beat my beloved Husky 268 and 371 as well. It also is faster than my Dolmar 7900 (though in...

How to Kill English Ivy ?

Trichlopyr will do a fine job killing it but you need to keep it off the trees that you don't want to harm. Cut it a bit above the ground, strip the Ivy away from the tree and apply the herbicide to the cut ends and the bark of the Ivy.

Pole Saw Blades: How often do you change 'em out?

I go through 4-6 per year so I average a bit over 2 months per blade. I also sheath my blades when not in use and try to keep from dragging the blades down the sidewalk. I'm a Fanno Mondo fan as well as the ARS Turbo-cut blades. The Fanno hook tip blade is really usefull for breaking twigs and...

JPS is asking all the ight questions. Size and accessibility determine what machine is ideal. So far as versatility is concerned the little manually actuated machines are tops-they can get to almost every stump and there is no limit to how big a stump they can grind.........but they'll beat the...

    Bar oil oddness

The Veggie oil has had no direct deliterious effect on oiler parts that I can see . In the case of two oilers I cooked, one sat for several months with veggie and it gummed up in the oil outlet hole. In case 2 the saw was in frequent service being used every week. The saw began to have a problem...

    Helmet Rant

I have had little problems with Bilsom systems but actually prefer some of the Peltor renditions-I just hate that they (Peltor)keep changing their design so that parts don't all retrofit. The Tasco helmet sysems are crappy IMO
