    Chain sharpener

I'm still here! Soon after I made my original post, a local cabinet maker made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. The money from the Bellsaw bought me a nice 511AX. MO-Iron

Thought that I would drop in and say hi to everyone! After the drought finished off any chance of a second hay cutting, we decided to resurrect the old construction company. We have stayed really busy till last week. Following my normal luck, when the cooler temperatures finally hit, we...

With this early of a start, I should have all my work done before the October GTG. Put me on the list! First two hay fields are on the ground. Hey Les, do you have the dates on the Timberfest? I'm going to call Allen and tell him to make room for me for that weekend. MO-Iron

    Educate me 'bout ash trees

I was taught to tell the difference between white and green ash by the bud scar. The bud scar will make a horse shoe shape around the bud on a white ash. The bud scar on a green ash will be shield shaped just under the bud. Mo-Iron

    Old School

Great pictures and story. When I was sixteen (long time ago) I took a 70 John Deere up to my grand dads farm to help him plow. We had finished the plowing and I was booming the J.D. on the trailer when grandpa walks up and is looking at the tractor with a bewildered face. He looks at me and...

    More wood haulers

Hi Hedgerow! I'm more of a plug'm in kind of a guy. If electricity isn't available, that tractor has the either assist button on the dash. It was ask what type of lift the wagon has. It's a scissor lift with a single one way cylinder. The hydraulic hose is stored in the pvc pipe mounted...

    left hand drill bits

I just take an old right handed drill bit and sharpen it to cut backwards. The right handed flutes will drive the shavings down into the hole and pack tight. The shavings will increase the chance of the bit hanging and bringing the bolt out. To sharpen the bit backwards, I usually use an air...

    More wood haulers

Thought that I had better come clean. Salvage has it right! That 4-wheeler would no more pull that loaded wagon than I will get to command the next space shuttle mission. I was riding by the wagon and the idea came to mind to have a little fun with the Safety Police. The angle of the picture...

    More wood haulers

Thought I would attempt to post a test picture on the new AS format. Pictured is my preferred method of getting firewood to the house from the farm fields. The hydraulic dump wagons are 8ft X 14ft with 2 X 12 side boards. The wagons also make great brush movers when cleaning up the hay fields...

So whats the most durable saw?

Few years ago, I attended the estate sale of one of our local chainsaw traders. The "good stuff" was sold off of tables out front of the shop. Out behind was about 250 junk saws lined up. A can of mix gas was available for anyone who wanted to try one of the junkers. I could not believe how...

Hey guys! Had a great OT today that I thought I would share...New neighbor moved in about a year ago that has proven to be rather obnoxious. This is one of the guys that is always telling you how things were done back home and that all of us hillbilly farmers need to learn from his...
