    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

I mean I don't think it's him but the coppers don't appear to be in a chipper mood. :surprised3: :omg:

Geez, you're some hard on stuff. ;)

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Working our way through the last bit of 1300 cu ft (8ft logs). Recycled a bin into a dumpster for easier clean up of bark and waste that comes from splitting. No more raking and shoveling at the end of the day. Well, maybe a little bit.

Scrounge some parts in the shop and there you go.

Seems that valve is still in production. I heard back from the Brand company, they have lots of dealers .

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

My knowledge of hydraulics is very minimal. So if a fella was scrounging for one of these valve bank/manifold things, where would he look? It's part of a Wallenstein rotating grapple on a skidsteer attachment that I would like to occasionally put on a small excavator (CAT 302.5). The grapple...

What is your favorite chainsaw of all time?

Husq 372XP x-torq paired with a 24" bar. Block firewood with it every day.

Slow and steady wins the race. This time of the year it's usually 8am before the sun comes over the hill. Might be 0ºC but it's not long before the coat comes off.

What's this part called? Looks like the two bits from a 3point hitch? [Edit: I figured it out, they are called rose joints. I was talking to the guy whose built the one in the video. He was helpful in providing info and photos to build one.] There's a guy in the UK making machines for...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

Nice set up you have there. Although I just don't see rollers working for the logs we get. Nor would the rollers last very long. Rarely are they straight, and a lot of the time they have knobs and limbs sticking off of them. It's why we sold the Hakki Pilki last year. Plus I don't have the...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I've thought of doing that too. Maybe once testing the concept is proven worthwhile I might update to something like that. That splitter is a 2 stage, 16 gpm, 3200 psi.

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I have one of those honda capstan winches, they are no more quicker than the winch. At least the one I have, certainly has the torque required though.

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I sorta figured the battery would drain quick, the bigger the log the bigger the draw. I've done a few improvements to that bench since that picture was taken. Added a thing to measure the pieces being cut. And changed the pivot thing for something better than a 6 inch strap hinge. The hinge...

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I do. It never even entered my mind to think of using it. It's large though, 10,000W, we have for the house backup. Would a trickle charger be enough I wonder?

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

No, the wood pile is about 1,000 feet from the nearest outlet. Otherwise I'd already be at it :)

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I built this fours years ago, mostly for cutting small diameter logs and slabs off of the sawmill. Now I want to toy with the idea of adding a 12V winch above the trough to pull logs in direct from the wood pile. Similar to the way that Wallenstein's mobile firewood processors use a winch to...
