Ash trees infected with the emerald ash borer

Could ash yellows disease be taking over after the ash borer is done and that's why some of the these trees are going punky faster than others and thats why its important to get them cut and dry .

Ash trees infected with the emerald ash borer

Its kind of odd but it was explained to me buy some loggers that getting it under roof was critical or it would get punky in two years if left outside getting wet !! Not sure why it would go so fast ?

Ran into one of the local loggers today and since I've been on a chain kick lately I had to ask him what chain he uses. Was talking to Madsens the other day (if you haven't looked there site over your missing some good info and tutorials ) and I asked the question about running 3/8 chain on a husky 346 xp that comes factory with only .325 and he said they don't like doing it and that husqvarna doesn't advise it...

    Stihl chain like gold!!

So what do we have for chain manufactures now- stihl probably the best quality , Oregon might be going over seas but second best so far , Blount brands not sure what your going to get , then silver streak and other imports , seems like the list is getting shorter !

    carlton chain question

Carlton has been around for quite awhile and some like it just fine as its a decent chain for a real good price . The woodland pro chain is made by carlton .Its not considered a hi end chain with all the bells and whistles that stihl and maybe oregon put into there chain .

    Stihl chain like gold!!

It looks like Blount is buying all the chain manufactures out , so far they own -- carlton , windsor, silver streak and oregon , am I right on all of these ,I can't believe it .I'm sure there not importing there whole line but who knows what chain is imported and what isn't .

    Stihl chain like gold!!

What damage could it do, I've heard the possibility of twisting the crankshaft as it wasn't designed for the extra pull not sure if that could happen. It would be easier to have just one chain size and I have heard 3/8 chain doesn't dull as easy as there is a longer cutting area than .325 .

    Stihl chain like gold!!

I'm not impressed with carlton lately , been using it for quite awhile now just doesn't seem to hold an edge on my 346 but seems better on the 359 with 3/8 . Keep thinking about changing the 346 over to 3/8 chain but I don't want to hurt my baby .
