Jonsered 630 Super II air filter

The old girl needs a new air filter. Local dealer can order one but after shipping etc. he wants close to $30....seems a bit high to me? Looks as though some aftermarket Husky saw filters may fit? Can anybody give me Husky model saw or air filter part# to cross reference with the Jonsey air...

    Best overall OWB / Manufacturer?

I have a gassifier in my basement. Mess indoors is not a [problem for us since it sits in an unfinished basement. Any heat loss from the unit rises to the living areas above. I can't imagine having to do all the work that an older style OWB requires. We will probably get by this year with just...

    Best overall OWB / Manufacturer?

This is one I have not heard of. How much wood do you go through in a season and for what size heating area and how well insulated. A friend is sold on a OWB and I would like to steer him to a decent one since there are so many money pits out there!

    Best overall OWB / Manufacturer?

How long have you been running the Eko? I agree about Hearth site...lots of info...just take your time and digest what's most important to your application.

    Best overall OWB / Manufacturer?

You may want to look at an Econoburn...it's a "gasifier" type boiler and they have an outdoor model. I believe some other manufacturers are also looking at outdoor models. Be sure you locality does not have any regs against OWB's or that they aren't planning any restrictions. We use a Wood Gun...

    firewood

Of course free is best!!...but then again, all my wood is free so it's all good. But, the best is the densest/driest you can get you hands on. Oak rates right up there for me(after min. 2 yrs drying) but we have more cherry here than anything else and that keeps us plenty warm.

Stihl 034 AV with 20" bar

Thanks for the help! I'll keep an eye on it. It will be my first real saw if I get it. Didn't mean to imply 30" hardwood is all I'll be cutting...but I have come across some and it's all I can handle with the old Jonesy I am borrowing. Most of the wood I've been cutting lately is probably less...

Stihl 034 AV with 20" bar

There is one for auction nearby. Compression tested at 175lb and it appears in the photos to be in decent condition, but I really have no idea what would be a good price for this used saw. Looking to cut max 30" hardwood trees and probably be cutting about 6+ cords per year. This saw would be...

    Chain Sharpener

Even just a "touch up" job makes a big difference! I have yet to learn how to file the chain completely but for the 1st time the other day I used the round file my buddy gave me with his saw and "eyed" the cutters angle...started with just 3 passes each to just try it out. After cutting a fair...

    Dolmar 5100S

I'm looking for a strong mid weight saw and this seems to fit the bill. I'm looking for a good used one and have come across a few. Any idea on what these bring in good used condition(meaning good compression, not cracks or other obvious signs of abuse, etc)? Seems you can get a new one for...

    How's your "seasoning" season going?

Very much the same thing for us this year & last. I intend to put up a large wood shed for the seasoned wood hoping to keep 2 years worth under cover so another wet year like last yr. won't matter as much.

    Anyone else getting "The Itch"?

Every time I see a tree down I get the itch! Actually, I had my first Craigslist score last week....storm took down a large ash. I really didn't want to start on it due to the warm temps but they wanted it out ASAP and I didn't want to lose it to somebody else. Of course the pathetic Poulan...

    Dolmar 115

Just saw an ad for this ...$100. All I know right now is it has a 16" bar/chain and runs good. Assuming it's in good condition as stated and compression checks out..seems to me this is a decent buy? I'm looking for a mid weight saw with good power for trees up to 20" or so.

    Stihl 039 Good deal?

Locally there is a Stihl 039 with a case and 7 extra chains(2 like new according to the ad)....$250. Seller states nothing wrong with it and runs great. If all is as stated it seems to me that this is a decent deal? I plan to be cutting maybe 5 to 6 cords per year....probably up to medium...

    Batten down the hatches!!!

Not sure what MPH the wind was last night but when we came home our large gas grill was blown off our deck and laying upside down against a maple tree in the yard! Hope it's not damaged.

    Time for a new saw.

They are not available at this time...signed up for email notification. Seems to be about the best cut for the buck I've come across.

I lost my wood cutting buddy today

Time will help ease the pain...but it takes so long! Making that final trip to the vet is heart wrenching....you know deep down inside you are doing the right thing but that doesn't make it any easier. It amazes me how attached we always get to our pets. I guess it's because we know they would...
