    Central boiler owners help

I have a smaller place than you, about 1200 sq ft and I have a 5036 and love it. I do keep my basement heated also to about 60 deg. We both work all day so the fact I only have to fill that firebox once a day even in the coldest weather is huge. I live in Upstate NY so the temperatures here...

    Owb brands?

I bought my CB 5036 in 2008 and my only regret also is that I didn't do it sooner. I would definitely do it again. You only swing the door open just after the draft door shuts once ! ! ! After that lesson learned and hair does grow back.... I also spent the long dollar for the good closed cell...

    Stihl O42 Carburetor Question

I am working on a Stihl 042 for a buddy. I have a problem I have never encountered before. Most times I can't get enough gas so I clean or rebuild the carburetor. This saw gets to much gas even with the jets turned in all the way it floods. I have had the carburetor off and everything looks fine...

    The "Firing it up" thread

I installed a 10 plate heat exchanger and fired up yesterday. I am impressed with the new heat exchanger instead of the sidearm. Water is hot all the time and never runs out. Now I have all winter to install my new power vented water heater. The old one started leaking a couple months ago it was...

Stihl 180C Leaning Out any Ideas?

Great info guys. I will adjust the metering lever on the needle and check the gas line. I was leaning towards looking at that gas line it makes sense that is is sucking air some ot the time. I love this little saw for limbing if I can just iron out this issue. I just fixed a Stihl cultivator...

Stihl 180C Leaning Out any Ideas?

My trimming saw has been doing this for some time. I thought last week when I pulled the plugged screen out of the muffler it would run better but don't. I love this little saw for limbing and trail clearing work but it is really getting annoying. It leans out and won't take throttle all of the...

    Who is still burning

I am thinking about shutting down this weekend. Still burning here in NY......

    OWB summer burn for DHW

I shut mine down for the summer also. I clean it up good spray with oil and cap the chimney. It cost me roughly $30 a month for propane with a family of four and that includes my kitchen range. I rotate 2 100# tanks and fill them at the local propane filling station. Usually a 5 -6 weeks on a tank.

    Firewood on Pallets

I see a guy down the road does that with his wood. He stacks it on skids and puts it where he can pick up a skid at a time with his Kubota tractor. That is very clever and he does not seem to wrap it with anything but it looks like he has a technique for stacking it though.

    Oak Baby!

Great score I am on my spring hunt for wood. Three years burning in my boiler and I am yet to have to buy any wood. I have to call on some trees to be cut and removed from craigslist tonight.....

Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchanger Options

This is all great information. I have a Honeywell mixing valve in my system now because the water got really hot when the sidearm system I currently have sat for quite sometime without use. Also learned what expansion tanks were all about after my last install. I definetely like the idea of...

Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchanger Options

Is it possible to post me some specs on the units you used or some pics of the install? I know you said 10 plates but what size is the unit? I see they come in 3"x8" , 5"x12" etc. I am sure the plate size makes a difference in btu capacity. I still need a hot water heater for the summer...

Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchanger Options

When you say bought them on ebay do you mean you have more than one? So you have this in front of your water heater? When the water heater is unplugged if you have not used any water overnight while you were sleeping do you have hot water when you take a shower in the morning? Is there a...

Installing exchanger and inside plumbing w/pics

I would like to know how this works for you also. How many plate exchanger did you use for this application? After the water sits in the heater overnight without any use how long does it take to get hot water in the morning? Do you still have the gas heater working and this only preheats? I...

Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchanger Options

I currently have a sidearm exchanger that is being heated from my CB 5036 on the side of a 40 gal gas hot water heater. My water heater tank is starting to leak so I will have to replace it soon. After a couple of showers we get cold water because of the slow recovery time of the sidearm. That's...

Log Splitter - How Many Tons is Enough?

Buy as much tonnage as you can afford. Not sure if you can have to much? I have the 35 ton and it works great but I have used homemade units and they were much better than splitting by hand. It is hard to justify a nice Iron & Oak but you get what you pay for also. I think you will be happy...

    NYS DEC OWB ordinance

Looks like the New York Farm Bureau can be a valuable asset to helping us quash this BS proposal...... Let's keep our fingers crossed.

    NYS DEC OWB ordinance

I have sent this to everyone I know. I have also commented on the DECs website. And there is a signed form letter in the mail to my State Senator, Assembly Member, and John Barnes, P.E. that was sent to me from Central Boiler. I can't make the meeting itself as I have to work for a...

Oh, tweet - what did I do? :)

I love my little Dolmar also. That think just keeps on cutting it is easy to maintain with the snap on cover and air cleaner that also splits for cleaning. I think it is my favorite saw so far.

    Northstar 42 ton splitter

I guess I like the vertical position much better than horizontal. If they were easy to pick up I wouldn't want to split them. Log lift and all that stuff is just more work than necessary for me. We all have different needs. If I was running an indoor wood stove I would probably have a...
