    Tips for felling trees

I am fixing to build a new shop from trees felled off my property. The pad will be poured next week if all goes well and soon I need to start dropping trees. I have a 1/4 acre of mature pines on the front of my place and I am looking for tips on felling these trees without damaging them when...

    Cedar tree advice

What could be wrong with this cedar tree I'm planning on cleaning up this outer edge of the yard and if this tree is on the way out I'm just going to take it down too. There is another tree just a few yards away that is healthy so I don't fee like it's a water or soil issue. The other...

Fixing to buy a new tractor

I am fixing to purchase a new tractor and want to know yalls opinions on which to choose. I have narrowed it down to a Mahindra 4540 and Kubota MX 4800 both 2wd no loader. The Mahindra has my vote due to being a good deal heavier and just a bulkier tractor overall but the Bota is more refined...

    Generator troubleshooting

So I bought a nearly new looking troybuilt genset this weekend for 20 bucks. It cranks and runs on one pull but has a gremelin in the power output. I found a video on testing the regulator that required hooking a 12 volt battery to the brushes and looking for 60 volts at the output and at...

    Maul find

Excited about getting a handle in this one it's a beauty. The shape of this one just looks like it would bust wood perfect. Not sure the maker but I can make out Made in USA on it. Also walked away from a MS261 for 200$ today. It looked ok and cranked and ran good but the holes in the top...

    Early Fiskars

Saw this today in a thrift/junk shop and it really reminded me of a Fiskars the way it's molded around the head and the quality of the head shape. Handle was broke off but it wasn't fiberglass it was more of a plastic.

    Double check my ears

Dad's been complaining that his 455 has been running dogishly lately so I decided to take a look at it for him today. First thing I did is strip it down and blow it off then I sprayed it down with degreaser and washed it good. Then I checked the compression and it was around 150 psi, the...

    4 way wedge on cylinder

Anybody got any videos using a 4 way on a wedge on cylinder splitter? I am thinking about making something up but I'm struggling to see how it works. Other option is more major surgery which is to convert it to wedge on beam. Splitter in question is a 35 ton speeco so it's got plenty of juice.

New woodhauler got a heck of a workout.

Borrowed my dad's friends mini ex to load some large wood rounds tomorrow and didn't realise what it weighed till I read the tag. 13k lbs plus the trailer and the old big block cheby performed flawlessly, 65 down the highway in OD and never broke 200* on the tranny temp.
