Splitter cylinder leaking and Live Oak questions
Live oak should be no issue for a 20 ton splitter. Some times the grain twists around the tree. A 24" round really should be split with few problems. I cut up rounds larger that 30" - more so I can move them than for the splitter.- Wolfcsm

Advise on felling a leaner
Can you work safely and have a very good escape route? I agree that cutting from the back - very slowly, would be the best. If the downhill side of the tree base is hollow or rotten. Ms660 with a 74" bar?
Send it to Brad. It will return a very different saw. I ran mine with a STIHL 47 inch bar and full comp chain in the oak here in Texas and had no issues. Hal -

I think that an 880 would easily do the trick. But, I would also recommend it have a trip to Brad for some work before it is put to work. Hal -

Is a hopup/rebuild worth it?

Ms660 Bar size
I have two bars for my 066: a 36" for any large wood I need to cut. I use a full comp RS chain with an 8 pin sprocket. Cuts very well in the oak we have here. I also have a 25" inch bar I use for all the other uses I have for the 066. Hal
